ANNA NETREBKO AND YUSIF EYVAZOV

OPERA SUPERSTARS ANNOUNCE DEBUT DATES

IN SYDNEY & MELBOURNE

It is with great pleasure that Frontier Touring announce the debut Australian tour of Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov.  The superstar couple of the opera circuit will perform ‘An Evening Of Opera Highlights’ at Melbourne’s Plenary on Saturday 21 October and Sydney Opera House on Tuesday 24 October.

Anna Netrebko has redefined what it means to be an opera star. Today’s reigning prima donna, she routinely headlines major productions at leading opera houses across the globe, and was the first classical musician to be chosen as one of the “Time 100,” Time magazine’s list of the world’s most influential people. With her distinctively beautiful voice, rich tones, abundant charisma, and arresting stage presence, she makes an indelible impression with each of the roles she portrays. An iconic figure both on and off the stage, the Russian soprano enjoys a level of superstardom that extends far beyond the classical realm.

Last season reaffirmed Netrebko’s standing as the undisputed prima donna of our time. She received an eleven-minute ovation for her season-opening appearance in the title role of Verdi’s Giovanna d’Arco at La Scala, and made her sold-out solo recital debut at the Metropolitan Opera, and a triumphant first foray into Wagner as Elsa at Dresden’s Semperoper.

“A soprano with star power in the best sense, a charismatic expressivity that pervades every element of her performance.” - New York Times

“Anna Netrebko makes verismo seem realer than life itself.” - Observer

Joining Netrebko on stage in Sydney and Melbourne will be celebrated tenor Yusif Eyvazov.  In the 2015/16 season, Yusif Eyvazov made a series of important debuts at the world-renowned opera houses. He starred as Canio in Los Angeles Opera’s production of I Pagliacci conducted by Plácido Domingo, made his first appearances at the Metropolitan Opera and the Wiener Staatsoper singing Calaf in Turandot, and debuts at both the Paris Opera and at the Staatsoper Berlin as Manrico in Il Trovatore. His Salzburg Festival debut took place in the summer of 2016, as Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut. On the concert stage he sang in Parma under the baton of Marco Boemi with a programme featuring works by Verdi and Puccini, in concert with Riccardo Muti in December, and undertook a major concert tour throughout Asia alongside Anna Netrebko, in the spring of 2016.

“Eyvazov is an exciting tenor whose sound is metallic, stentorian and markedly Italianate ... The unalloyed dominance of the pure human voice trained to do exceptional things reaches us in a way that no other sound does ... there is nothing else quite like it.” - L.A. Times

Appearing alongside Netrebko and Eyvazov is renowned conductor Mikhail Tatarnikov.  Across his illustrious career, Tatarnikov has conducted some of the world’s most renowned orchestras.  For these Australian concerts with Netrebko and Eyvazov, Tatarnikov will conduct the Orchestra.

“Mikhail Tatarnikov is a remarkable master of sound who has everything in total control; above all he controls the powerful blocks of sound and he evokes Rachmanivnov’s opulence in colour, beauty, and all the correct sentiment without ever slipping into sentimentality.” Kronen Zeitung Wien

The Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre St Petersburg, Tatarnikov has conducted the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National du Radio France, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Danish National Symphony, Orchestre national d’Ile de France, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Filharmonica di Bologna, Novosibirsk Philharmonic, St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, Moscow House of Music and the St Petersburg Philharmonic Society.

Don’t miss out on tickets to see opera superstars Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov on their debut Australian dates.
