Excellent show at an intimate venue
by Jason Davies on 11/8/23Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaAndy Summers provided a great and memorable performance – so glad I went. He played a few instrumental versions of some of the Police's biggest hits, while also playing more experimental ambient music and even some jazz. Between songs, he amused the crowd with interesting and comedic stories and there was a constant reminder of his incredible work as a photographer – with many of his photos projected behind him. It was just him, so it would have also been nice to have more live musicians as opposed to the backing tracks, but it worked out well overall. I would most definitely see him again – really great artist who is also quite personable and always interesting. The venue was perfect – we got tickets at the last minute in the left orchestra section and ended up just a few rows away from him. Probably the best seats I've had for a show in a long time – and also very reasonably priced. I ended up purchasing a signed lithograph and now wish I had also purchased one of his signed books....next time. I'll add that it was hard to believe he's 80 – he still rocks!
