Anderson .Paak in Concert
Presenting the artist in a top hat and plaid boxer shorts as he plays piano in the surf amid a smattering of objects like an old-school record player, the surreal cover image for Anderson .Paak's breakthrough album perfectly suited its wildly inventive contents. Full of witty, unpredictable songs and styles that ranged from ‘60s soul to ‘90s hip-hop to vanguard R&B, ‘Malibu' became one of 2016's most acclaimed albums, establishing its creator as a maverick whose imagination can seem virtually limitless. Along with a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album, the album earned Anderson .Paak another Grammy nod for Best New Artist along with similar acknowledgements at the Soul Train Music Awards and the BET Hip Hop Awards.
All that marked a long journey from Anderson .Paak's first foray into music, which was playing drums in church growing up in Oxnard, California. After coming to Los Angeles, he sought to establish himself as a session musician while creating his own sounds under the moniker Breezy Lovejoy. His fortunes rose when he began working for Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra, the revered L.A. hip-hop duo and production team. His new confidence inspired him to drop his former handle in favor of Anderson .Paak, a stylized version of his real name. The buzz got louder with the release of his wildly diverse debut, ‘Venice' (2014), and his contributions to albums by Dr. Dre and The Game. And while he fully proved his capabilities with ‘Malibu,' it was ‘Yes Lawd!' (2016) by NxWorries – his duo with producer Knxwledge – as well as shows with his band The Free Nationals that confirmed he's just as compelling with close collaborators on hand as when he's pursuing his singular vision.
His third album and first since signing to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, ‘Oxnard' sees Anderson .Paak introduce yet more colors in his palette, beginning with Technicolor textures, carnivalesque soundscape, and his own exuberant flow in "Bubblin'," the album's first single. And with his return to stages with The Free Nationals, Anderson .Paak is ready to make good on his reputation as one of the exciting new talents in hip-hop and R&B.

One of the best shows I've ever been to Get the crowd Very involved kept the crowd moving
If you haven’t been to an Anderson Paak show, you haven’t lived. There’s no hugging the walls or seating on your butt. It’s a full blown dance party.
This was my first time seeing Anderson .Paak live and I would defintly recommend anyone go see him. My girlfriend who wasn't a fan left one. The weakest part of the night was Earl Sweatshirt performance and Tommy the clown but it was worth the wait.
I had never been to the legendary Forum before but I was able to see Earl Sweatshirt and Anderson.Paak perform and what a show they put on! Even in the nosebleeds the sound was fantastic and the pyrotechnic display and set design was on point also. Cannot recommend the artists and the venue enough!
I didn’t arrive rights when “doors opened” but my entry into the venue was a breeze. This was my first time in Champions Square for a concert, and although it was extremely humid, it was worth it. Anderson.Paak put on an unforgettable performance. From the talent of the Free Nationals band to the color-schemed ensemble of everyone on stage to the fire visuals that accompanied each song, I was thoroughly satisfied with the experience. The energy from Paak radiated the crowd and I couldn’t have asked for a better performance, I was even able to snag a setlist!
it was amazing, great times great show. definitely do it again
This was a great show! A nice variety of music and beats along with fun interaction! He loves that you love his music and he makes it fun!
I've been to A LOT of concerts. This one topped them all. Jesus Christ, that was good.
AP killed it! From start to finish, so much energy! The entrance was epic with the drums coming out of the cage, elevated 15ft above the stage. Lights were on point, even some tasteful pyrotechnics. Stage setup was dope with the steps, different band members at different levels, and of course the drum cage/elevated drum kit. So many awesome colors, love AP's colorful outfits. The band was super tight, great guest performances... could go on. This was such a killer show, and AP really made the crowd feel appreciated and like they were a part of something special. LOVED IT!
What an amazing experience! I’ve seen .Paak at least 5 times and every time gets better and better. The set, the vocals, the band. Amazing. It was truly a party. So proud to be a fan back when he performed in front of a crowd of 40 people and now watch him rock and headline the Forum!
Great show. One of the best concerts I’ve EVER been to. He was full of energy and had songs for days. Anderson really should consider doing a live album. ASAP!!!
I danced from the moment Andersen came on stage until I got home. The band, his drumming skills, lyrics, guest and audience was Top Drawer. I will always catch his show.
This man is such an amazing performer! Damn! I danced the entire time!! It is my third time seeing him, once in Oakland and once at LIB but this show topped them all!!! YES LAWD!!!
Anderson Paak is an energetic and soulful performer. I'll buy tickets to his shows whenever he's in town.
Anderson Paak is a national treasure. The catalogue is undeniable and the stage presence is electric. YES LAWD!
What else is there to say. The show was phenomenal! His energy! The guests! Everything about this show--on point! I truly didn't want it to end. I will carry this show inside me for awhile. My oldest son introduced me to this voice. This concert was my thanks to him before he leaves to go to the Air Force. He walked out with a huge smile on his face. "This is like a Marvel movie, you can't just leave cause it looks like it's over!" I will keep this concert in my heart for a long while!
The show was absolutely amazing! Anderson Paak's vocals and visuals were unlike any other I've experienced in concert, and I've been to over 20 in my life so far. His stage presence is unreal, and there wasn't a point where he stopped smiling. You can really tell the passion and talent is there, and I'm super glad my friends and I got to see it, yes lawd!!💖😁
I’ve seen a lot of legendary artists and a lot of great shows and I can confidently say this ranks among the best! DO NOT MISS!
Every second of the entire show was captivating! Kept me dancing all throughout the concert. I hope to see them again at another event!
