Music for the soul. Japanese, Hawaiian and the classics. What could be better.
The show was a good value. Will attend again. My wife and I enjoyed it.
There were the Japanese players singing were fantastic and energized. Then the special treat of Kalapana revival playing the 70's tunes with one of the Japanese singers leading. The Honolulu Symphony was on it and played the Star Wars theme song with so intense feeling leaving a buzz in the air and mind. What a fantastic concert!
Everything about the event was simply wonderful. There is only one thing that would have made it perfect...blown me away and knocked me out of my slippahs. 1. The price ($8) for great music and talent was an amazing gift. 2. The venue was perfect, as everyone seated on the lower floor would have been able to appreciate the music. It was the VOUME of the performance of the orchestra, when the Honolulu Symphony, UH Symphony and Youth Symphony performed that could have been improved. I could tell that the musicians must have put much effort and practice into their pieces. It was beautiful. However, the volume was a little too low, and took away from their presentation. (And, I have perfect hearing.). I can only imagine what it would have been like, had the volume been correct. Please don't take this the wrong way. I sincerely appreciated the night of beautiful music. (Keep in mind too, that when I looked at the audience, I saw a lot of older people, who may not hear nearly as well as I do. I wanted them to hear every amazing note.) . It would have been nothing short of GRAND! (So many musicians on the stage at one time. They must have practiced for many hours. They deserved to have been fully heard and appreciated.) Strangely, the volume of the other artists' performances were perfect. What happened? In any case, thank you, for the opportunity to enjoy an evening with these wonderful local musicians.
A very good performance from Engelbert and good selection of old and new songs
Awesome concert! Englebert is still a great entertainer and singer. Enjoyed his rendition of the B. Mars song "Just the Way You Are" better than the original. The only thing is that the vocals setup seemed to make his voice a bit harsh. Heard him last year at a smaller venue and felt his voice sounded better then. He hinted he may be back next year. Will most likely see him again if he does.
My wife and I had a great time at the Engelbert Humperdinck concert. The performance was wonderful, the venue perfect, ingress and egress to and from the event went smooth and without compromise. I believe however that the festival promotion could have been better publicized which could have generated more revenue. Nevertheless the event was great.
