Amigo the Devil on Tour

Amigo the Devil, the artistic moniker for musician Danny Kiranos, is a fitting juxtaposition for the acoustic troubadour who challenges the expectations of country fans, folk traditionalists and metal rockers alike with his unique brand of grisly "MurderFolk". Though armed with just his vocals and a banjo or acoustic guitar, experiencing Amigo the Devil in concert is unlike any typical folk show. He sings his dark, poetic lyrics from the soul and performs with a theatrical flair that engages everyone in the crowd. Rooted in the art of storytelling and infused with unsuspecting doses of humor, Amigo the Devil grips the audience by the very first line, making life's less-than-pleasant moments relatable to fans of all genres through songs centered around themes of loss, doubt and regret. The multifaceted artist draws from diverse elements that range from bluegrass to electropunk, country rap and gothic rock. On his 2021 album, Born Against, he weighs on past and present musical influences to create his own authentic expression of multi-faceted talent. You can catch Amigo the Devil on tour as across the U.S. throughout 2022-23, commanding the stage with his original style, clever lyrics and hummable tunes that get people to sing along with their demons.

Amigo the Devil Live in Concert

Before he became known by the masses as Amigo the Devil, Danny Kiranos was a man from Miami with a banjo and opinion. Today, this one-man folk band is appearing at festivals and headlining shows across the country with a cult-like band of followers who will drive hours to bring venues like House of Blues (San Diego) to capacity to watch Amigo the Devil on tour. The Florida native taught himself how to play guitar at the age of 13, eventually releasing music under his pseudonym by 2010. As a first-generation American, Kiranos grew up on his parents' world music of the classic Bolero tradition and sounds from Eastern European folk. Later in his career, he was introduced to storytelling influences -- such as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Fiona Apple -- and gained an appreciation for metallic rock that help shape the music he makes today. As people from all walks of life were won over by the disarming nature of his songs that speak to the human condition, his audience grew in size and appreciation. After the self-taught artist released his debut album, Everything is Fine, in 2018 and experienced a huge spike in popularity, he found himself performing in larger venues to larger crowds. Over the years, he's built a dedicated fanbase who treat each other like family in a community group called "The Fellowship" on Facebook, some of whom have gotten one of the many Amigo the Devil tattoos that are displayed on his website. He's even honored in his home city of Austin, Texas, with an "Amigo the Devil Day," which falls on November 16 every year.

ATD is great every time I see him. Saw him in new location and it felt like home. The story telling he does every show is exciting and never the same.

This was the second amigo the devil show I saw in just a few months. He never disappoints. What a great storytell and even better musician. Definitely one of my favorites. I love the audience participation as well. The place was packed and everybody was singing his songs, word for word. It felt like one big happy, twisted, weird little family.

  • Best concert ever

Amigo the Devil is an absolutely amazing performer. He truly invites the crowd to participate in his shows. He is personable, hilarious and kind. His performances are absolutely top notch and he doesn’t miss a beat. I will see him every time he is in Southern California no matter where he plays. I love this man!

  • Amigo is great. Venue is not

by Dingus on 11/26/24The Depot - Salt Lake CityRating: 2 out of 5

The depot has never been an enjoyable experience. Security to take themselves way too seriously. We can’t take our ridiculously over priced drinks down? You think people are going to give a 20 dollar drink to someone? The depot is a nightmare. I guess it’s good they get some good shows. Otherwise no one would go to that awful venue.

  • Great show!

by Just a fan. on 11/26/24The Depot - Salt Lake CityRating: 4 out of 5

Amigo the devil was awesome and so was the opening band. The floor is a little hard to stand on and the stairs are brutal but the show was amazing

This is my second time seeing Amigo the Devil live, and won't be the last! One of those rare "even better live"artists!

  • Show was awesome

    by Zach-with-an-h on 11/13/249:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

For their first show of the tour, it was awesome. Great turnout, great openers, great show all around. The band seems really enthused about what they do and have great crowd control. Happy to see as many supportive fans as there were, wishing the best for Amigo on the road ahead.

  • As always, awesome!

    by Toy_dragon on 11/13/24Rating: 5 out of 5

We saw Amigo the Devil originally at Louder Than Life a few years ago and were totally enthralled with the performance. Fast forward to now, the DC show in Nov 10 did not disappoint and was even better than the festival show. Top 5 on my list of performers and performances for the music, crowd interaction and just the fun atmosphere. It's always a great time when performers are genuinely having a good time. It radiates to the crowd and makes the whole experience excellent! Seriously, even if it isn't your usual style of music, go for the experience. It's a fantastic time.

  • Ill be coming back

    by Aiden Larson on 11/2/23Rialto Theatre-Tucson - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

From the Rialto theatre itself to workers in the bar, from the light and sound crew to security, and of course the artists themselves, this show was the best experience anyone could have had. I was just so lucky that this happened to be my first experience as well. Thank you to both the openers as well as the main showing for the great experience.

  • Amigo the Devil is amazing

by Wolf on 11/1/23The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

This is my 7th time seeing Danny and he is amazing as always so I’m giving it 5 stars but if this review had more room for nuance I’d give the band 5 and the crowd zero. I’ve seen him at seven other places, and the crowd at the Wiltern was the most disrespectful I’ve ever experienced. Laughing and joking when the musician was trying to talk about suicide and recovery. Bunch of drunk idiots ruining the experience. So go see Amigo but skip the Wiltern.

  • My favorite live performer!

by Judezilla on 11/1/23The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I love Amigo's music, but seeing him live is a special treat. He has so much charisma and always gets the audience (the WHOLE audience) singing. It's a very special experience!! This show was no exception-the whole Wiltern audience singing was really something to hear/see!

Go! Go! Go!! This artist! This venue! It was an awesome experience!!

  • A show I’ll never forget.

by Alex Bergan on 10/31/23The Observatory North Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Nate Bergman, David Ramirez, The Silent Comedy and Amigo The Devil all put on one hell of a show. They were all grateful to be there and made sure the crowd knew that. Musicality and performance aside, everyone who stepped on that stage deserved to be there and it was reciprocated with everyone else in the room. I’ll be seeing any and all of those artists whenever I can.

  • Energetic, interactive, emotional

by Doug on 10/27/23Emo's Austin - AustinRating: 5 out of 5

Great setlist. Lots of crowd interaction. Storytelling. Just a great "vibe"with a lot of positive feeling.
