O'Connor Family Band and Brandi Clark WOW

by Anonymous on 8/1/18Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

First I was blown away by opening act Brandi Clark who performed songs about women, love and strength. The audience gave her a standing ovation. She is at her best when singing alone with only her guitar as accompaniment. The O'Connor Family Band is so fine tuned and remarkable. Mark's daughter in law has an enchanting voice. She started off with a hillbilly song with sounds that drive straight into your heart. Her range and ability to hit the high notes are startling. The fiddles, banjos, bass guitar played by O'connor's son, wife and band were in sync. They were having so much fun and so into the moment. Bottom line go see them whenever you can. They will take your heart away.

    Essential listening

by Anonymous on 7/25/18Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

This was an incredible concert and it is tragic that the Ryman was only half full. Up and coming acts Secret Sisters sounded better than their albums with great songs, stage presence and variety on just a guitar accompaniment. William Fitzsimmons downer songs with gorgeous lyrics and instrumentation well worth hearing followed by tried and true Jim Lauderdale and his band with a more traditional bent. And Jim brought out Frank Newsome to sing a hymn a capella, an experience that was singular and enriching. All for 40 bucks.Need to market this better to tourists if the locals won't come. Kids under 21 can't get to the music in the bars so this kind of show is the best thing to bring them to broaden their horizons. Hope they continue to schedule this kind of eye opening, soul strengthening music.

    Americana at the Ryman

    by vickiv44 on 7/25/18Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Secret Sisters were fantastic!. Jim Lauderdale was also just as I expected, a true classic. William Fitzsimmons was deadly boring. I understand totally how he has placed so many songs on tv shows. His music is pretty unmemorable and muzak like.

Lauderdale & Secret Sisters Can Sing

by outdoorgirlTN on 7/25/18Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

I enjoyed the Secret Sisters because they sound good together, with unusual natural voices, and catchy songs. I enjoyed Jim Lauderdale because he cares & does everything well, from being a great singer, to writing songs he really feels, to having a good band, to wearing beautiful tasteful sparkly shirt & pants. William Fitzsimmons may have written well-known music for big moments on TV dramas, His songs may sound good if you are sitting in your room alone. But I did not enjoy his live performance. His stage patter was off-putting to me, almost like he wanted to make the audience not really like him. But it was worth sitting through his act to hear Lauderdale and also the Secret Sisters.

    Americana is Alive and Well

    by Smokestack56 on 7/19/18Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

A great variety of entertainers appeared in the first Americana at the Ryman show. It ran a little long, but I think it was because Tony Joe White was really into his music and didn't want to stop. I wish Lee Ann Womack had more time to sing. I can't wait for the rest of the Americana series.

    Awesome Americana!!

Such an incredible night at The Ryman!! Every performer was amazing, but Lee Ann Womack was simply unreal. I’m so glad I bought the 6-night package.

    Great Show!

by smokymtnhillbillygirl on 7/18/18Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Looked forward to this show and most of it was fabulous! Buddy Miller was WONDERFUL! I wish the show had been Buddy/Lee Ann Womack and the McCrary Sisters! Tony Joe White was awful--way too long/boring set that appeared to cut into Lee Ann's time at the end. :( Not a fan of Parker and ESPECIALLY not a fan of Elizabeth--so low class--I'm surprised she was chosen for the show. The McCrary Sisters were the absolute HIGHLIGHT of the night; I could have listened/watched them for hours. Love hearing them with Buddy. Sad to not get to see Julie Miller with Buddy anymore.

    Americana at the Ryman

The show was awesome except for one person- Tony Joe White- he seemed incoherent. You couldn't understand him. A lot of people left during his time on stage.

    Buddy put on a show

by Oldn on 7/18/18Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

I came to Nashville to see Tony Joe and I left after learning so much more about the artists who were on the show. Every one was great. Gospel with the McClarry Sisters was moving.

    Amaracana

Too long. If you plan on a four hour event better supply some pillows, Maybe cut it down to three hours. We enjoyed the music but why so much blah - blah - blah between sets. A little history is fine but we didn't come for that we came to hear the folks sing. Tony Joe White; what an I-con and to watch people get up and walk out on him was disturbing but that's just some people we planned to stay if we were the last one there! He is the reason we came in the first place. Thanks for bringing him in.

    Good Opry style revue!

    by BigT37205 on 7/18/18Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Buddy Miller lined up some friends and put on a three and a half hour show. Parker Millsap, The McCrary Sisters, Elizabeth Cook, Tony Joe White, and Lee Ann Womack all added to a great evening.

    McCrarry Sisters were awesome!

by Hillview on 7/18/18Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Great musicians. Wasn’t expecting a 4 hour show—a bit too long; however I don’t think it was planned that way—one of the musicians seemed to play longer than he was scheduled.

I anticipated better. The vocals and such were average. Venue is nice and cozy though.

    Even better than I thought!

by LoveLoretta on 4/3/17ASU Kerr Cultural Center - Scottsdale

I may be biased because the 60's and 70's are my personal favorite era for music, but the song choice was great. There were 4 singers (5 if you count the finale, which was sung by the keyboardist), and they all have excellent voices that were suited to each song they sang. It was a true cross-section of great hits from the time era. There was a nice 15-minute intermission in the middle, and the lead singer was engaging and friendly. There were also short videos interspersed throughout the show, so anyone attending would have learned a lot about the time era. I found the show to be entertaining, educational, and well executed!
