Ambrosia on Tour

Ambrosia, an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1970, is back in action. Their 2022 tour, ambrosialive, is bringing together a long-running and loyal audience. The band boasts five Top 40 hit singles released between the years of 1975 and 1980. The singles include "Holdin' on to Yesterday," "You're the Only Woman (You & I)," "Biggest Part of Me," and "How Much I Feel." The 2022 tour includes all members of the original band -- bassist/vocalist Joe Puerta, drummer/vocalist Burleigh Drummond and keyboardist/vocalist Christopher North -- plus guitarist/vocalist Doug Jackson (guitar and vocals), Ken Stacey (vocals) and Mary Harris (keyboards and vocals.) The band has been playing together for 25 years. Seeing Ambrosia live is a nostalgic and energizing experience. The tour will span the United States over the course of the year.

Ambrosia Live in Concert

Ambrosia was named after the band's desire to be eclectic in style, encompassing all shades, textures, colors, and styles. The band was originally formed as a quartet. Ambrosia soared to the top of the mainstream music charts despite being progressive in nature. Being from Southern California, the band was inspired by artists such as The Beach Boys and The Beatles. Ambrosia got their start in 1971 when a friend of the band who was running sound for the Hollywood Bowl invited the band to play onstage to test the sound system. Gordon Perry, the head engineer, invited them to attend performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The conductor chose to feature Ambrosia as part of the "All American Dream Concert." After landing a deal with 20th Century Fox Records, the band became an American legend. Today, the band still maintains a loyal and enthusiastic following. Ambrosia live in concert in 2022 certainly stands to be a reunion and celebration of epic proportions.

  • Awesome Ambrosia

by StephenM on 3/26/24Goodyear Theater - AkronRating: 5 out of 5

Had a wonderful time seeing Ambrosia at the Goodyear Theatre in Akron. Wasn't sure how I'd feel about the vocals with original lead singer David Pack, but Rick Cowling was amazing. The band sounded fantastic, and the addition of Shem von Schroeck was also perfect. Have loved Ambrosia since the 70's and although this was my first opportunity to see them live I was definitely pleased.

  • Fantastic!

by Roe on 8/8/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Ambrosia multiple times in the past few years, both with and without their 'Rock Yacht' counterparts. They stay true to the arrangements and have great vocals as well. Mary Harris and Kip Lennon surprised with a cover of 'Take it to the Limit' in honor of the recently passed Randy Meisner. Simply stunning! Whether the band was performing their well known beautiful ballads or one of their progressive rock/pop tunes, their harmonies were great and the band was flawless. Do not miss them in concert!

  • Disappointing

by Dee on 7/17/23Rating: 3 out of 5

The performance was lacking. The only saving grace was when the musician from Player joined them. They lacked presence and performance.

  • Outstanding Venue and Concert

by Second Brother on 7/4/23Rating: 5 out of 5

First time at the Ludlow Garage after long time knowing about it. The venue and concert greatly exceeded our expectations. Our seats were in the side section but still had a very good view of the stage. The seats were exceptionally comfortable. The sound system was just right for hearing and feeling the music. Ambrosia’s concert was extremely enjoyable. Saw them twice before at an outdoor park concert and this time seemed even better. Their voices were as strong and good as ever and their instrument playing was just as good and blended with the vocals like the recordings we have enjoyed over many years. They included many of our favorites and several of other artists that was just as good. Highly recommend the venue and their concert.

  • Great band in need of a better sound tech

    by Mike C on 7/3/23Rating: 4 out of 5

A favorite of mine since the mid-seventies. Still sounds wonderful but their performance was marred by horrible soundboard work; guitar way too loud and Hammond non-existent. Would love to have heard more from their first two albums but then most audiences probably want to hear the well-known ballads. Quite an enjoyable evening however.

  • A freezing experience

    by Susan j on 7/3/23Rating: 3 out of 5

The band was great, however, the venue if you were sitting on the right side was extremely cold, the air conditioning was on full blast. It caused me to have a asthma attact. I even left to go buy a jacket, but it still did not help. The people who are was sitting shut the vents. And then we were told that we were not able to do that. So I left very early in the show.
