This is an excellent venue and an outstanding atmosphere - combining high school sports and the patriotic theme brought by the Army. That being said, I have been to all but the first of these games held in San Antonio and this was by far the most boring. Both teams struggled to generate offense, with very few exciting plays...and with only three scoring plays total betweent the two teams. Even two extra point kick attempts were blocked! Further adding to the lackluster proceedings on the field, the TV broadcast of the game required the fourth quarter to be cut short, killing any potential for some final drama at the end of the game.
BADLY needed improvements for future games:
1. Give the teams more time to prepare for the game. (This year, I believe they had less than a week of practice leading up to the game.) This should enhance the quality of play by these exceptional athletes.
2. Start the game early enough that it is not cut stort by television broadcast or other time constraints - so the players and fans aren't cut short.
I'll continue to support this game in the future, but this game deserves to be the best possible and the on-the-field product desperately needs improvement to better showcase what the athletes can really do.
