  • Only liked the Answer part of the Q&A

by Juliette on 5/12/24Palace of Fine Arts - San FranciscoRating: 3 out of 5

Alison was a delight! Her charisma and wit helped outweigh how boring/bad the questions asked by audience members were... It's called "Solicited Advice"so all questions are welcome I guess...

  • Good food advice: Atrocious live advice

by SanFranSomething on 5/11/24Palace of Fine Arts - San FranciscoRating: 3 out of 5

I confess I did not do enough research when I signed up to attend this event with a friend. I was imagining something a lot more cookbookey and never could’ve imagined the event as it unfolded in reality. I even struggled to explain it to friends who inquired later on, “so a drag queen and a cookbook author took to the stage and answered extremely personal questions from audience members, some of whom were called down to a mic under a spotlight. Then, because neither of them are remotely qualified counselors, they gave everyone terrible advice more in the interest of humor than loving care of a fellow human.” I can’t say I learned anything about cooking, even though there were a few loosely food-related questions. For me, a regrettable way to spend my evening, but my friend seemed to enjoy herself, so maybe I’m not the target audience here.

  • Hated the focus on lonely women

by Erica on 5/11/24Palace of Fine Arts - San FranciscoRating: 2 out of 5

I came to hear about cooking from the one and only Allison Roman and the topics were full of lonely women needing therapy. I wish the focus was more about cooking than a dating advice column.

  • Refreshing and delightful

by Shaughn on 5/4/24Summit - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Fun evening with pointed and relevant advice on any topic life can bring. There was some good crowd involvement as we worked through the nuance of personal relationships. We also talked about room temperature soup, pie dough, and restaurant reservations. Alison is everybody’s best friend.
