First time at this venue and it's one of the best. Very intimate and so gorgeous inside. The acoustics were great and Alison's voice really shined. Some of the number had the music a bit too loud and it overshadowed her voice but the slower tempo numbers is where you could really see what a powerful and incredible voice this lady has and it keeps getting better. I definitely would go to this venue and see her perform again. So cute and sweet, she had stories about why she wrote some of the songs. Felt very intimate and there was much love in the room.
Alison Moyet was in fine form, as always. She has a small, devoted following in the US but deserves to be a superstar!
Hands down one of the best shows I've ever seen. Alison's energy was high and she was charismatic and engaging with the audience. Her voice is unforgettable and her band mates were top notch musicians. I wish I could attend more of her fabulous world tour.
One of only three shows in the US for 2013 and it was great! She promised a more electronica-based tour and was accompanied by only two backing musicians who handled syn-drums (weird but effective), guitars, keyboards and more keyboards. Setlist was made up of about a third of the fine new CD ‘Minutes” and the rest were ‘hits’ (well, they’re hits in the UK anyway). Tiny place, maybe 600 or so and fine sound. This gal doesn’t need any backing tapes!
Alison Moyet was amazing! She played a great mix of songs from her new album as well as many of her older hits. She looked great and sounded better than ever! Always fun to see her live!
I have been an Alison Moyet fan for 30 years. I had the good fortune of seeing her in Chicago in 2006 when she reunited with Vince Clark. This concert bested that one by far. Alison looked great, seemed absolutely thrilled to be performing, and her vocals and delivery were dead on. I absolutely intend to see her during her next tour.
If you do great singing work on your records, you are a great singer. If you sound even better onstage, you a true artist. This goes for Alison Moyet, when I was able to see her perform on Manhattan Center last week. It took me quite a number of years to overcome my fear of flying (I am originally from Austria). But this concert was worth facing my fears ;)! An absolute stunning performance, a great team, and a breathtaking voice!
Alison is still amazing, I was not as familiar with her new songs, but the concert did not disappoint. Highly recommended,
Great show! Alison looked great, sounded great and put some new spins on old songs. She has minimal props & instruments but mega talent, heartfelt emotion and that magical quality of a great musician. A pure high to watch her perform!
I have waited 30 years to see Alison in Concert, she was worth the wait. The venue, the crowd and most of all Alison made the experience unforgettable. Alison covered her newest release as well as many of her hits from her entire career; putting new spins on classic songs. She interacted well with the audience and the audience was thoroughly enjoying all that she played. Would love to see her the next round. I traveled from Georgia specifically just to see the concert. Worth the effort and expense.
Alison Moyet made a one-night only appearance in New York and one of only three US stops on her current 'the minutes' tour and what a concert it was! What a voice!! The concert was a return to her electronica roots and included several songs from her days in the group Yaz, as well as reworked solo songs from throughout her thirty year career. But the main focus was on songs from her current album 'the minutes' and to say they were incredible would be an understatement. Go buy this amazing record. Alison has never sounded better and hearing her live was a dream come true. She was charming, engaging and full of energy as she belted out 21 songs over the ninety minute show. She has an amazing voice and her songwriting especially on this latest album is something to behold. If you ever get the chance to see this woman in concert, do not miss it!
WOW! She rocked the house! Her performance was amazing. The venue is a little run down. I remember seeing someone here when they renovated in the late 1990s I think and it hasn't improved. But the ticket prices reflect that, so I guess I can't complain.
What a great show. Alison's voice never sounded better. The show had a good mix of old and new songs off her new album. The small venue made it extra special too.
Alison was incredible, her voice is better then the record. It was a must show of the year.
Alison Moyet put on an incredible show! She did some throw back Yaz along with some of her new songs of the CD, the minutes. She was so personable, and she sounded fantastic! She's looking great after having lost all her weight, but her voice is just as stellar! I had a fantastic time!
The show started out a bit slow, but once she got going it was fantastic!
Voice. Soul. Deep connection with the lyrics. Warmth. Charm. Alison Moyet at The Fillmore was superb.
Alison took center stage @ the Fillmore and took those in attendance on a joyous, polished, powerful journey. Great night, the crowd was into the event as was Alison, she chatted with the faithful several times and was having fun. I for one was really happy to have seen and experienced her stage presence, her voice is as fresh and strong as it was 30 years ago. I wasn't sure what to expect but I came away from the show smiling from ear to ear.
Not much to say in regard to the concert since she canceled (not sure why). Alison is one of the most incredible singers of all time. It's a crying shame that we in America are too limited in our thinking to see this beauty for who she is. Guess I'll have to go to England to finally make my dream come true (litterallly) to see her. Sorry, Alfie.....
