About

Alison Krauss is largely responsible for keeping bluegrass music alive and well in the U.S., and she’s got the awards to prove it. The singer-songwriter has received 27 Grammy Awards, making her the most awarded female artist in all of Grammy history — not too shabby for 42 short years. Krauss is a nationwide favorite in concert and has been performing onstage since the early 90s and selling out tours across North America since the early 2000s. She loves taking the stage just as much as recording in the studio, and ticket holders get to hear her soulful, soothing soprano up close, in addition to seeing her expertly play the fiddle, piano and mandolin. Her last studio album was 1999's Forget About It, which hit No. 5 on the Top Country Albums chart.

This bluegrass-country singer has been writing and performing her own music since she was a teenager. She put out her first album with the highly acclaimed Union Station band in 1985 and has since released 14 albums. The star’s first album to rise to the Billboard chart’s was 1990's I’ve Got That Old Feeling, which also scored her first Grammy award. Her next few albums also saw massive success, then New Favorite came out in 2001 and solidified her career as a solid country and bluegrass artist. Lonely Runs Both Ways was released in 2004 and quickly became a gold-certified album. She received heaps of acclaim for her contribution to the successful "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack as well. Touted as being one of the most influential people in country music today, Alison Krauss is a wonder to witness onstage and an adventurous and fun departure from traditional pop music.

Alison Krauss & Union Station - Perfect

by mrwood on 6/26/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

The music was perfect and unforgettable. Alison Krauss has an amazingly clear and strong voice, and Union Station backs her up without flaw. Highlights were her singing songs from her new album, plus Dan Tyminski singing "I am a Man of Constant Sorrow" from the film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". Also, the encore was just Alison and the main Union Station members surrounding a single microphone, singing their early hits and highlights from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". What a treat. Highly recommended, but don't expect flash and effects, and don't expect any jumping around on the stage. These guys could have been giving a private recital in my living room. It was intimate and lovely. Jerry Douglas was amazing to watch on the dobro. Before the concert, I bought a few of their albums -- after the concert, I bought the rest! There's real talent here.

Alison Krauss & Union Station Rock

by yavroos on 6/26/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Alison K. is so funny, I love her sense of humor and how she introduces her band. You can tell that they are very close and comfortable with each other. Dan T and Ron B are so talented, I love their voices and how they play the guitars and banjo. The Bass guy is really talented too. Now don't get me wrong, Jerry D. is talented, but no disrespect, he should not be the half time alone. It sounded like practicing, you couldn't tell what he was playing and it got a little annoying. It's cool that they added the drummer and piano guy for some of the sets but with Dan and Ron, they really don't need anyone else. Now, the opening act, the war something. They sucked!. It was a joke, the drummer guy swigging beer, the other guy acted like he had ants in his pants and they just sound like a generic Simon & Garfunkel, Sorry guys but you need to get real jobs. Alison your voice is like an angel and you looked really fantastic. Dan even looked thinner and Jerry the pounds you packed on need to come off. The bass guy always looks great and in shape, probably to go hunting. All in all a great night, the weather was great and the Greek Theatre is the best. Thanks for a great night.

    Alison Krauss & Union Station

by BlueLatino on 6/26/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Alison's voice is amazing. Her supporting cast is awesome as well. Jerry Douglas on the Dobro/Slide Guitar is absolutely the best on the instrument. Good mix of songs from older albums and the new release.

    Musicianship at its upmost

by piesweet on 6/25/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Both Alison Krauss and the amazing band, Union Station are professionals par excellence. The lack of ego that has artists of this caliber working together to produce a truly unique evening is such a pleasure to witness. My husband--who has worked in the music business (rock) for years--thought he did not like bluegrass. Really, he had never been exposed to it. So a few years ago he saw Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Blue Thunder live with me. Then he discovered Alison...now I have to worry about his emotional affair with Ms Krauss! But she--and they--are so worth it.

This was my first time seeing Alison and I really enjoyed the show. The whole band are very talented musicians and, after many years playing together, they were totally entertaining!

Terrific concert! We missed Good Old war, mostly because it took so long to park -- we sat and sat and sat while in line, even after already paying the exorbitant $20 parking fee (and there was no warning anywhere about the parking rate). Would've liked a little more design -- we couldn't see the projections at all from our seats, and the lighting was barely any more than basic illumination. But musically, they were fantastic, and it was a real treat to hear them play live.

    Alison Krauss & Union Station

by banjobob119 on 6/25/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

This is the 5th time I've seen Alison and the band. At the end of each show I say they couldn't get any better but everytime I see them they seem to be better. Alison has the voice of an angel and the band is some of the best musicians on the planet. I've been listening to all of Alison's CD's ever since the show. Her voice just gets better and better. Not to forget that she keeps getting prettier and prettier.

    Beautiful

by Atheist on 6/25/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

This was my 2nd Alison with Union Station show and thoroughly enjoyed it. She has the voice of an angel. The band is tight. Jerry Douglas really makes it for me. I would love more jamming ....loosen up on some of the songs .They don't have to be exactly like the record.

Great show. Awesome venue. It was my first time at the Greek. The sound quality was great. The venue is beautiful, nestled among the hills in Griffith Park. The show itself was amazing. Allison Krauss and Union Station put on a wonderful show. Their musical abilities when playing live are a sight to see and hear.

    Failure to play top songs

by johnadams742 on 6/25/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

We were disappointed with the absence of the following popular songs: "Gone, Gone, Gone," and " When You Say Nothing at All." Her (Alison Krauss') tour should rename to UNION STATION with the PRESENTS of Alison Krauss. It felt a bit like going to MAUI and having all the beaches closed without previous notice. Point here, if an artist is not going to play their most popular songs, let it be known on the outset of the performance.

    Bluegrass in LA!

by joyseeker18 on 6/25/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I love Alison Krauss & Union Station! Their musicality is phenomenal. Banjo, guitar, Alison's fiddle and the magnificient dobro all created a fantastic sound. Alison voice came out clear, but the Green Theater had her mike too loud and it was difficult to tolerate. Such a shame! The best songs were the ones where she harmonized with Dan Tyminski. But my favorite overall was the pure bluegrass instruments -- WOW! And in LA also!

Beautiful voice, but not the sound

by Mir37 on 6/25/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Alison Krauss and Union Station are uber talented. She has one of the best voices ever. I don't know what was going on tonight, but the sound just wasn't right. I don't think it was her voice, but rather the speakers. Some adjustments really needed to be made. When she hit those high notes, the sound from the speakers was so harsh. Unfortunate. But overall, would recommend going to see her.

    AKUS Beautiful Music but...

by GShell on 6/25/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

My husband and I love this group, but think they would play better in a more intimate setting. Beautiful open setting of the Greek got a bit too cool not to have some 'hot' tunes mixed with the slow. After a while, it all got to sound the same - Outstanding vocals and music, but a better mix would have helped us to enjoy the concert a lot more.

    Alison is Amazing

by Benny28 on 6/25/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Perfect venue, great system for parking. The support band This Old War was enjoyable. However, once Alison & Union Station hit the stage, man, it was unforgettable. The Sound was perfect, the on stage banter was great, the songs choices were widespread, the amount of new verses old was right on, the length was so generous. Honestly one of my favourite gigs (ALL TIME). Just when i thought it couldnt get any better they came out and did a more mellow set for encore, one mic, 5 muso's. Don't miss this show if you like bluegrass.

    Alison Krauss

by Southbaysusie on 6/25/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Brilliant, as usual. But, maybe in an effort to go more mainstream, they've added drums & keyboard, but, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. I would like to see them drop the drums & keyboard and go back to the old AKUS we all know and love.

    by sweetp4 on 6/24/11Comerica Theatre - Phoenix

AKUS could have gone on for ever. Venue NOTE: Don't take CLOSED bottles of water with you. you CAN NOT take them in as some of the web sites say you can. Bring your $$$$ conssetions are high $$$
