About

Alison Krauss is largely responsible for keeping bluegrass music alive and well in the U.S., and she’s got the awards to prove it. The singer-songwriter has received 27 Grammy Awards, making her the most awarded female artist in all of Grammy history — not too shabby for 42 short years. Krauss is a nationwide favorite in concert and has been performing onstage since the early 90s and selling out tours across North America since the early 2000s. She loves taking the stage just as much as recording in the studio, and ticket holders get to hear her soulful, soothing soprano up close, in addition to seeing her expertly play the fiddle, piano and mandolin. Her last studio album was 1999's Forget About It, which hit No. 5 on the Top Country Albums chart.

This bluegrass-country singer has been writing and performing her own music since she was a teenager. She put out her first album with the highly acclaimed Union Station band in 1985 and has since released 14 albums. The star’s first album to rise to the Billboard chart’s was 1990's I’ve Got That Old Feeling, which also scored her first Grammy award. Her next few albums also saw massive success, then New Favorite came out in 2001 and solidified her career as a solid country and bluegrass artist. Lonely Runs Both Ways was released in 2004 and quickly became a gold-certified album. She received heaps of acclaim for her contribution to the successful "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack as well. Touted as being one of the most influential people in country music today, Alison Krauss is a wonder to witness onstage and an adventurous and fun departure from traditional pop music.

    Evening with an Angel

by Green MBoy on 10/28/19Township Auditorium - Columbia

Alison is a magnificent artist, with superb accompaniment. She seems to get better with a wider range of styles and harmonies. The Township is a great venue with the kindest of staff. It was a great evening.

    Excellent show

    by R. M. on 10/28/19Township Auditorium - Columbia

The concert was unbelievable. Alison Krauss has the most amazing voice to listen to. From the moment she and the band came on stage I was jaw-dropped until the end. I've seen a lot of shows and singers over the years and hands-down Alison Krauss is the best singer that I've seen. It opened my eyes to a whole new genre of music.

    to short a ripoff

by mick on 10/27/19North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

One and a half hours for 200.00 was a complete ripoff, I was disappointed. The music was great. If I would have known in advance I would have never purchased 2 tickets for my wife's birthday, even though Alison Krauss is our favorite artist.

    Great concert

    by T. T. on 10/26/19Township Auditorium - Columbia

It was a very good concert. The late arrival folks were very distracting. I just wish the concert had lasted longer than an hour. The seats are not very comfortable as there is very little leg room. But, it was a good experience.

    Not the same

    by W. O. on 10/26/19Township Auditorium - Columbia

The staff was late letting us in. Alison seemed fatigued. She sang a few of her hits but there were several that were not her standards. She for about an hour. For what I paid, it seemed lacking. I have been to seven of her concerts with Union Station and this will be my first and last with Alison Krauss by herself. It almost seemed like she threw this show together at the last minute, Barry Bales and Ron Block were their excellent selves but the rest of the cast was so so.

    Great, Short Show

by Clarke on 10/26/19Township Auditorium - Columbia

It’s been 20 years since we were at an Allison Kraus show. Still outstanding. Fantastic musicianship by all performers. Great mix of older and newer stuff. Only problems — long security line and absence of ushers to help folks unfamiliar with the venue. Also, she performed less than 1.5 hours.

    fantastic concert

    by T. on 10/26/19Township Auditorium - Columbia

Allison came out on time and sang her heart out and made a few jokes that everyone loved, she is a excellent performer and cares about her audience

    Too short

    by G. M. on 10/26/19Township Auditorium - Columbia

Too short, we drove 100 miles to hear bluegrass music, only a few real bluegrass songs, price too high for what we got. Great talent. Township Aud. very good, in and out, personal great.

    Outstanding

by JLow on 10/26/19Township Auditorium - Columbia

I can not say enough about this beautiful woman’s voice!! I have listened to here for years but seeing her in person makes me wonder why I didn’t do it earlier. Her voice is so crisp and clear and the band is amazing! I grew up on bluegrass music and Alison will always be a favorite! If she comes close to you do yourself a favor and get a ticket! You will not be disappointed!!

    Good and Bad

by Slyltc on 10/26/19Township Auditorium - Columbia

Typical of most concerts people were getting to their seats 30 minutes after the concert started, which started 20 minutes after the scheduled start time. People were checking their cell phones throughout the concert. Management should have only seated late arrivals between songs and policed the cell phone users. Alison Krause and US was outstanding biut the concert length was less than 90 minutes.

Love her but this concert was just “OK”.

    by M. on 10/26/19Township Auditorium - Columbia

Beautiful voice, great band, very sedentary, very short concert at 1:20 minutes, Theater accusative were so-so, I couldn’t see the performers- needs large TV’s., Seating better for basketball. Don’t think I’d go there again.
