About

Otherness is the first album in over a decade from the group Rolling Stone declared "put Canadian post-hardcore on the map." Five guys playing aggressive rock grew to a hockey-arena headlining phenomenon while pushing and pulling between spirited guitar leads, melodic might, and emotional weight.

AOF released four hugely successful studio albums, all Music Canada Platinum-certified: Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Kerrang! counted Crisis (2006) among the 50 Best Albums of the 21st Century, alongside undeniable classics from Green Day, Muse, Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Blink-182, and Fall Out Boy. After Crisis hit No. 1 in Canada, at a stage where many bands compromise in search of greater success, Alexisonfire doubled down with even heavier riffs on album four, Old Crows/Young Cardinals. Released in 2009, it became their highest-charting record in America.

The guys never sacrificed the punk soul summoned in beat-up vans and basement shows. Blending their classic sound with new and forward-thinking textures, they produced Otherness themselves. Jonah Falco of Fucked Up mixed.

As Revolver Magazine noted in 2019: "It's hard to overstate the influence Alexisonfire had in post-hardcore through the mid-2000s, their combination of singing and screaming setting the blueprint for many artists to come."

Alexisonfire has played shows at well-known venues such as The Fillmore (Detroit), Trees (Dallas), and History (Toronto).

I've never gotten the chance to see AOF live, and they did NOT disappoint! They played every single song I wanted to hear. I also enjoyed their opening bands a lot too, great lineup.

Fantastic rhythm, energy, vocals. Amazed that there were not more people to see such an incredible band in a small venue.

Alexisonfire was fantastic! Sounded great live and the crowd was wild! Good mosh pit and lots of stage diving. Who knew George was that strong (he was throwing people into the crowd from the stage)? Overall a great night.

amazing show, but better setlist needed!!

by aofan on 5/22/10Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

I loved every second of the show. Alexisonfire is my favorite band and when I found out that they were playing Bowery I knew I had to go without fail! They played mostly amazing stuff but the ending was a little disappointing... they said they had 3 songs left and I was thinking they would play "Hey, It's Your Funeral Mama" and To A Friend at least.... no... the last song they played was Happiness by the Kilowatt and I was a little disappointed as I feel that song drags on forever but I mean it was still amazing.. they played some stuff off their first album which was amazing as well. I would definitely go see them again, without a doubt!!
