I really enjoyed the venue. The venue staff were friendly. I love the open space with two floors of the venue. The band of course was amazing. They were interactive with the crowd and played really great music. I like how a few of the band members were able to play their very own individually created music.

Rating: 3 out of 5 Not big enough yet to give this kind of show.
by hmm10 on 6/1/11Music Hall of Williamsburg - BrooklynI love Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros' first LP. With as much fun as they seem to have onstage together in videos I've watched, I thought the show would be pretty awesome. While "Alexander and the Fam" sounded great and performed well, there were several problems that made me not want to pay to see them again in the future. First of all, since this was their first time playing to promote the Alexander album, they weren't as organized about it as I thought they should have been. Alex was kind of spacey and couldn't decide what to do next after each song. Secondly, the show was way too long! I'm pretty sure most people were getting bored toward the end. It's hard to sustain a high level of enthusiasm for long periods of time, even when you love a band. The endnote was the worst part, though. Alex asked for requests several times, and the crowd screamed in unison for the song "Home" of course. Alex then teased everyone for awhile pretending that he was hearing other song titles, and then they played "Om Nashi Me." Granted that's a great song too, I don't think the band is big enough yet to take that approach to playing shows. They should be more focused on pleasing the crowd. It's not like they've been playing "Home" for three decades and everyone can understand why they're too tired of it to not play it again. All in all, it was kind of disappointing.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Alexander and the Fam: Hungover
by NYCPS on 6/1/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORKThe show was fun and I LOVE the venue. It was the Monday night of Memorial Day weekend and they had played a show in Williamsburg the night before. They couldn't stop saying what a blast that show was and how hungover they were for our show. They didn't have much of a setlist prepared. It was fun anyway though! love them and the venue.

Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 6/1/11Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn Alexander and Fam are absolutely amazing live, there cd doesnt do them justice i'd recommend anyone to see them live if given the opportunity to do so, the warm up act "he's my brother, she's my sister" also blew everyone away i dont think anyone there expected the warmup act to be just as good as the main attraction, great show all around!!
