I was in Albany for the weekend, and decided to look for shows playing at the Palace Theater. I saw that the ASO was playing & decided to see a show, even though I'm not into classical music. I'm glad I did! They put on a spectacular performance that took my breath away, and the music they played sounded very professional and beautiful. I'd love to see them again, but I live too far away!
The ASO performance had something for all tastes and ages. Loved all of the local children as participants. This was a wonderful, heart-warming family event that set the perfect holiday mood. Will attend next year, and recommend to friends!
The opening sequence of <<rewind<< by Anna Clyne made myself and my guest (who was leery of seeing an orchestral production as she does not like classical music) breathless. It was stunning. The Elgar cello solo, while lovely and beautiful, wasn't as dynamic as I would have liked, but the vitality of the Planets equaled it in passion and surpassed it afterward.
The Albany Symphony has an energy and skill nurtured and developed by its superb conductor who brings joy to music and vitality to each piece he conducts. The Planets was a highlight of the evening, ending with the beautiful voices of ??? (The program does not say and neither did the conductor.)
The performance far exceeded my expectations, though I should have expected as much from APM and Albany Symphony! Please do something like this again!

The ASO was outstanding as usual. And for the Maestro to take on this challenging piece was quite wonderful. Albany Pro Musica sounded right on the entire night...... Of course, the guest soloists were all great. I especially liked the soprano. However, in my opinion, Albany Pro Musica is basically a chorale of many great soloists. Bravo to all of you!
This was a great program. The soloist was incredible and did an encore!
