It was amazing to hear Alarm Will Sound cover Aphex Twin. Perfection!

  • Chaotic

This type of music is definitely different. I think each musician has amazing skill and talent. However, many times it sounded as though they were playing multiple songs at once. I should have done more research before purchasing.

Way too much just plain noise and yak yak yak, expected much more music. Disappointing, left at intermission.

  • Total waste of money

Very talented actors/musicians but horrible play. Not at all what we expected. Most of the music was unrecognizable. The actor that played John Lennon - his tone/pitch was right on target. Actually thought we were listening to the real John speak. Other than that, couldn't wait for the end. Definitely not our kind of entertainment.

  • Provocative Look at 1969!

by Sariya on 4/25/11University of Denver - Newman Center - Gates Concert Hall - DenverRating: 4 out of 5

Alarms Will Sound presents 1969 is a retrospective for the thinker. The multi-media presentation ties the music, social and political scenes of the '60s era together using a very current 2011 lens. The angst of the 1960s established ways versus, change and rebellion, posing as avant-garde music, create an aural and cognitive dissonance in some parts of the presentation. While the overall impression you have when you walk out of the theater is the realization that the 1960s leaders in the forefront of their fields advanced our social and global thinking to a higher plane. It truly was a revolution of a kind not seen before. It makes you think. 1969 makes you consider how the events of the 1960s shape the current music, social and political scenes.

  • First half was great

by jlfp on 4/25/11University of Denver - Newman Center - Gates Concert Hall - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

The concert before intermission was moving and powerful. The video show greatly enhanced the music, putting it in context and making music which is often difficult to understand more meaningful. However, the power petered out in the second half. It was no longer compelling, and the voices which has often been difficult to understand in the first half became impossible to understand in the second half. Unfortunately, when the second half leaves you feeling cheated, the overall feel of the concert is less than desired.

  • Alarm Will Sound prerforms 1969

by Anonymous on 4/25/11University of Denver - Newman Center - Gates Concert Hall - DenverRating: 1 out of 5

Totally disjointed view of 1969. Lousy transition from composition to story. Overly indulgent view from the conductor and writer. Plus side was good musicians and vocals.
