    1st Timer

by LGABRELLE on 10/29/12Legion Field Stadium - Birmingham

My friend and I went to the Classic although neither of us were ASU or AAMU graduates (Alcorn University grads) just to support HBCU Classics. We definitely had a nice time. Traffic was remarkably well-done and organized. The set-up of the tailgaters was organized as well. Although it was one of the coldest Classics I've been to in October, it did not disappoint as the bands and fans were great. We sat on ASU side because of our random tickets and we were glad it worked out that way because Alabama State won! So, that made it really fun. As 30somethings...we were wondering about an over 25 after party and a few people suggested The Wine Loft. Excellent choice! The DJ was awesome as he played a great mix of current Hip Hop/R&B and a special 80s/90s throwback Hip Hop mix just for us grown and sexy people in the building. Overall...we had a great time and definitely going to make it back in the future.

    Magic City Classic

by Anonymous on 10/29/12Legion Field Stadium - Birmingham

I enjoyed the event, but getting through the gate was a hassel. There were not enough people working the gate and the line was at a standstill several times. It took almost an hour to get inside.

The Magic City Classic is an amazing event that highlights HBCU's. A joyous occasion for alumni of both universities. I am proud of my college, AAMU!

Magic City Classic was pretty Cool, Literally!

by AJACK on 10/29/12Legion Field Stadium - Birmingham

This was my first time attending this event as i moved here from Houston August 2012. The atmosphere of the tailgating was really something to see. Looked like a city within a city. It wS pretty chilly out and inside the stadium seemed even colder as the wind was whipping thru Legion Field. All in all, it was a pretty cool experience. Pun intended.

    Pirates win a thriller

    by redwinger219 on 9/6/11Soldier Field - Chicago

Hampton University came out in the second half and played tough defense and had good offensive line play to prevail, 21-20 over Alabama A&M. Both schools put on a great show with their marching bands. Very entertaining. Soldier Field is an ideal setting to watch a football game.

    Chicago Football Classic

by APBrantley on 9/6/11Soldier Field - Chicago

    1. The event(s), the game and “Battle of the Bands” featuring two member institutions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (commonly and hereinafter referred to as “HBCU’s”), the “step-shows” featuring non-sport organizations of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (commonly and hereinafter referred to as the “NPHC”) - nine historically African American, international Greek lettered fraternities and sororities is always great sportainment product/service. 2. The tickets for admission into the stadium were $15, $25, $30 and $40. I’ve purchased the $40 ticket to be seated as comfortable (my long frame), close to the game (Section 113 Row 6 Seat 1 – near the 50-yard line). However, the way Soldier Field is designed it seemed like all the levels (100, 200, etc.) for seats would avail an acceptable view. 3. Soldier Field - the home of the illustrious Chicago Bears - was a great place for the Chicago Football Classic. This venue holds out the initial psychological impression, albeit subtle, that all games are played on such a major stage. Soldier Field is almost completely surrounded by the Marshall Field Museum of Natural History, which gives off the historical context in which the HBCU’s stem from. And last but nevertheless, the city of Chicago is absolutely an international attraction at in itself, much like Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles and Miami. 4. The Football Classic was a good promotion for HBCU's.

    Product of an HBCU

    by AKA20Pearls on 9/5/11Soldier Field - Chicago

The game was just amazing. I love HBCU's!!!! I had so much fun (even though it rained the whole game), I still enjoyed myself. Going to an HBCU football game is the best excperience any young kid or teen can have. That's what made me want to attend Alabama A&M University; I wanted to go to a black college in the south and since graduating, I miss my college days but I will never forget my black college experience. S/O to my AAMU Bulldogs!!!! A&M A&M A&M U wooooooo!!!!
