not fond of accordions
by alisa53 on 3/21/11Variety Playhouse - AtlantaWe actually did not attend this show. We purchased tickets, but learned that once again Al DiMeola would be accompanied by the grating, omnipresent accordion player who (from our standpoint) entirely ruined his last show at the Variety Theater. The accordion is a strange instrument with little utilitarian value in most musical genres. It seems to lend a Parisian cafe feel to everything it touches. Frankly, your mind wanders, and you begin to imagine the guy with a little suited-up monkey on his shoulder and a tin can on the floor. Perhaps he's a good musician. Just not my taste. Anyway, we decided it was far better to take a loss on these tickets, and miss seeing Al D - one of my husband's all-time favorite guitarists - to avoid the unpleasantness.
