I made my pilgrimage to Cuba last December for the 1st time and heard the rhythms of Afro-Cuban music on every corner and in every taxi flowing through the people ! To see the All Stars up close and to dance with them transported me back . They were worth waiting outside for an hour and another long pause after the warmup band ! Viva musica cubana !
The opening act was good but the wait for the main event was unacceptable. The band was only coming from Eugene, after all. The performance (at least the part I stayed for) was good but a band owes its public more than just a performance. It also owes the courtesy of reasonable punctuality. When the show was scheduled to start at 7pm, doing the sound check at 7pm and then going for dinner is more like contempt than courtesy.
Being Latino and living in Portland, I don't have many chances to see and hear a great Salsa band. This group is good. Had me moving the whole night. Can't say anything bad about the band but the Wonder Ballroom was uncomfortably hot.
what a show they put on!!! - they brought the magic and love in their rhythm, sounds, smiles and collectively brought such great energy - it was WELL worth it. thank you!

THIS EVENT WAS REALLY GREAT. WE DANCED AND SANG ALL NIGHT LONG. THIS GROUP, AFRO CUBAN ALLSTARS IS TAKING THE BEST CUBAN MUSIC ALL AROUND THE WORLD AND THE PEOPLE WHO REALLY LIKE THIS MUSIC WE REALLY APPRECIATE THIS. GOOD JOB GUYS. THE BEST FOR YOU I AND HOPE YOU BE SUCCESSFUL EVERY DAY.
I danced the entire show! My feet started to hurt, but I could not STOP dancing!!!!!!! So worth it. A great time was had by all! I couldn't believe that some people actually were sitting down at any point during the show
Saw the NYC show March 26 ... just a great show. Great songs, talent, energy...and just the essence of cool.... Can anyone help me out? What was the name of the 79-year-old who joined for many of the songs? He was just outstanding, and I'm sure I'm embarrassing myself by not knowing his name already. But, hey, I'm Irish...about as far from Cuban as you can get!
The Concert Hall was the perfect venue size for this fabulous group of performers. Not too small, not too big.....just right and the acousitcs were good enough. What a talented group of musicians who clearly live and breathe their music! Everybody was smiling at the end of the night. Only drawback: the intermission took about 45 minutes, but felt like an hour. Too long by NYC standards.
A very enjoyable cross cultural event for us. Definitely worth the money and effort to see. Fun ensemble and so colorful.
I have Cuban friends who don't appreceiate this music, and that is there loss I have a photo of myself and Juan marcus and I cherish it greatly. The music speaks for itself, looking forward to there next New york visit....
They were fantastic! Really a great show, with lots of variety in the types of musci that they played.
It was fabulous, too bad they couldn't play longer. didn't want to leave the theatre. Would definitely go see them again. I've seen them on tv documentaries. I would recommend them to anyone.
This show was filled with high energy. The venue was great and the music was fantastic.
