Ace Frehley Live in Concert

Born Paul Daniel "Ace" Frehley in Bronx, New York, Ace Frehley started playing the guitar at 13. He never went to a music school, nor did he ever take a guitar lesson since every member of his family played instruments. He spent the early '70s in a series of local bands. In 1973, he co-founded the American rock band KISS. He departed the band in 1982 and went on to lead a successful solo career. His 1978 solo output -- KISS: Ace Frehley (released as part of the KISS solo albums) -- went platinum. In 1984, he assembled, amongst others, drummer Anton Fig and bassist John Regan to form a group with a name that alternated between Ace Frehley and Frehley's Comet. This group recorded a series of demos throughout 1984 and 1985, and performed their first-ever live show at S.I.R. Studios in New York City on November 30, 1984. In 1987 he released Frehley's Comet and it charted on the Billboard 200. He subsequently returned to KISS in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour. In 2004, he tied with Paul Stanley at No. 14 on Guitar World's list of the 100 Greatests Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time. Frehley's influences include artists such as Jimi Hendrix and Albert Lee, among others. In 2014, Frehley, along with the original members of KISS, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His 2020 solo album Origins, Vol. 2, charted on the Billboard 200.

    Totally uninspired

    by GMANN on 7/18/23

Ace looked like he didn't want to be there. I always felt a succssful concert is when the performer on stage can channel their passion to the audience and get them as excited as they are to be playing music and being there. In this case the music was decent at best and considering you came to see a guitar player the guitar was good, but I've seen just as good in many bars. That's just one man's opinion.

    Great show

    by Lordhensley on 7/17/23

This was an extremely great show at a great venue. More like a personal jam with the audience. Obvious there were no tracks all live music. Like I said great show.

    Not what I expected!

    by RB on 7/17/23

The venue (House of Blues - Houston Tx) was great but Ace played too much from his Kiss years. Probably a better set list would be 90% his solo stuff and 10% kiss. He can still play great, the band is phenomenal. Just wanted more of his new/recent stuff

    Meh!

    by Papafutbol on 7/17/23

Just not my type of music. Thought Kore Rozzick, was better than Ace. KR was fun. Standing for four hours to hear music I do not care about was my mistake. I now know why I pay for convenience and comfort.

Fifty Feet Away From Ace Frehley

by Curly on 12/14/22Holland Civic Center Place - Holland

When we ordered the tickets, we wanted them physically sent to us. When we checked on the tickets, we found out they had been switched over to downloadable content (which we did not want). We changed it back and discovered that the tickets would be arriving the day of the show. So we called Ticketmaster, and they said that if the tickets do not arrive by two days before the show they would leave them at the window for us (Thank you, Ticketmaster). The opening act (Bull y los Buffalo) totally blew the audience away. 'Hammer and Nail' had the crowd stomping. When Ace took the stage, the whole feel shifted for me. It felt like i was fifteen again listening to my old KISS collection. 'Rip It Out' will forever be my sound check song when playing a live venue (guitar, bass, drums, vocals in different bands) only because he used it as his sound check opening song. His back up band made it feel like i was at a KISS concert when his one guitarst yelled out "Ace Frehley! Lead Guitar!" after his 'Shock Me' solo. I had made my way up to the front where a clot of people were standing just as Ace started in on 'Cold Gin'. As i was singing out the chorus, Ryan caught sight of me and pointed, and i pointed back and we nodded at each other. Standing just to Ryan's right, though, just fifty feet away, was Ace playing guitar. Oh and that guitarist, Ryan, had his birthday at the show (they paused the show to bring out a cake and the audience to sing happy birthday). And they came back out for a small encor! Ace was my favorite KISS member. Ace is my favorite KISS member. Ace will always be my favorite KISS member.

    Awesome!!

by Duane on 12/14/22Holland Civic Center Place - Holland

Opening band was Bull Y Los Bufalos. Surprisingly very good band. Very good stage presence and songs that by the end you are singing. Glad to have them open and hear their music. Ace is Ace. Started out a little slow for the first 2 songs but after that he was awesome. Will gladly see again if givin the chance.

    Ace Frehley - Still Rockin'

by kingsbury on 12/14/22Holland Civic Center Place - Holland

Ace pulled out all the stops. Smokin' guitars, flashy guitars, great solos, great songs. Do yourself a favor and see him live!

    Lots of fun

by Johnny P on 12/14/22Holland Civic Center Place - Holland

The staff was amazing! This is a really nice place to see a concert. I was skeptical at first because it looked like a high school gymnasium but the experience was great. Easy to park and easy to exit.

    Nothing special

by JackPat on 11/20/22Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Ace relies heavily on his excellent backing band. Besides Ace there are 2 other guitar players. They make up for what Ace lazily doesn’t play. Imo it seems he is going through the motions. Set list was slightly boring and nothing unexpected. Would be nice to hear some more of his solo songs and deep cut KISS songs that he sang on. I’m not saying show was bad but it could’ve been better if Ace gave more of a effort. I can understand why he’s not in KISS anymore because his playing has gotten lazy and he looks bored. Just going through the motions.

Best value for your money !

by Jonathan S. on 11/19/22Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Ace gives a great LIVE show. No taped music or taped vocals behind him unlike his former bandmates in KISS ! Plenty of Ace solo hits along with KISS classics too.

    Fun night

by Murph on 11/19/22Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

If you like KISS, you love Ace. It's a night of KISS music. Even the vintage tunes that he didn't sing lead vocal on are done well by his band mates. Sprinkle in a couple tunes from his '78 solo album and that's it. The crowd was into it, Ace and his band were into it. Fun night!
