    Discreetly revealing

by Kathleen on 6/3/19DR2 - New York

Corman managed to share a horrific time of her life while maintaining the privacy of her “angel” and not betraying details of her husband’s childhood abuse issues that surfaced during his stint in rehab. She was totally Horst about her anger and shame and fears from the fallout of the entire tragic event. The shock of this discovery was hardly funny, but Corman managed to find humor each day to get herself through, and one can see how this performance is therapy in a way for her.

    Riveting and Funny

by ElJo on 4/30/19DR2 - New York

I knew Maddie’s story from when it happened, and I was wondering how on earth she was going to make a play out of it, exposing her family to further pain. But yes, she is brave and very honest. She rips her heart out on stage for 90 minutes, and I was riveted. It was funny, and sweet, and it doesn’t tie life up with a pretty little bow. This girl has made lemonade out of some very sour lemons.

    Principles of the Human Spirit

by Vanessa on 4/18/19DR2 - New York

Maddie Corman's Accidentally Brave, a play that is both raw and primed, presents the human spirit that, with the help of an angel, endures a rocket-crash weeks after her husband's self-destruct button triggers a family breakdown. Corman gives a performance that is both timely and timeless... unique and universal... sensitive and sobering. Bring tissues and bring a friend.

    Powerfully shared story

    by S. H. on 4/16/19DR2 - New York

Maddie does a masterful job in sharing her story with the audience without it being too overwhelming. There are gut-wrenching moments to be sure, but, more-importantly, she humanizes the entire experience and helps us understand one possible response. As a one-woman show, I imagine it is a challenge to tell a story that, in ways, includes the entire country, but she does a masterful job. Brava!

    Powerfully human.

by Teddy B on 4/15/19DR2 - New York

Maddie Corman’s performance is riveting, from her first words uttered on stage. This is a one-woman show, and Maddie plays only one character, herself. However, this courageous actor/writer is all we need. Her starting point is an unspeakable family tragedy and she deftly, evocatively shows us all the colors and vicissitdues of coping, questioning... From the fallout, she shows us all the colors: dark, grey, the occasional splash of bright. And along the way, we begin to understand what we can understand. Maddie’s story, impossibly, illuminates all our family stories.

    Brilliant performance

    by amyb3517 on 4/14/19DR2 - New York

show was great. The one woman act presented an accurate description of what life is like after a tragedy occurs in a family - all the moving parts. She is unapologetic in her description of her life, and how it affected her. She didn't try to paint it with any other color than that, and that is commendable. Her lack or PREACHY-NESS will go a long way for those who encounter similar tragedies in their life. My single disagreement with the show was her lack of distinction between pornography and CHILD pornography. They are two very different things (the first being that one is legal and the other is not) I don't mean to argue a point about one leading to the other, etc, however, she failed to draw a clear line at least two times in the show - she referred to pornography, instead of child pornography. Great show. Go see this one.

    Brave

by Fredde on 4/4/19DR2 - New York

This actress is telling her story. It's hers to tell. She is fierce and compelling. She keeps the very private and personal information about her husband's part of it out of her story saying, "It's his story to tell." I agree. I love when artists turn their trauma into art. She's gifted and I hope that her whole family heals. And, I also hope I didn't have spoiler alerts -- though I assume people have heard of what happened. I also loved the theater. LOVED that 99 seat theater and how accommodating the staff was and how chill they all were. It made me want to do my one woman show there. And, yes, I do have one. It's mostly done in L.A. And, an actress plays me.

    Heart wrenching... revealing and powerful

by Glo on 4/2/19DR2 - New York

One never knows how one will react when devastating events occur. In this one woman revelation of life after her husband is arrested on child pornography charges in a very public way, you are forced to share her grief and efforts at regaining control over her life. And you reflect on your own experiences with shame and loss of trust. Powerful. Highly recommend.

    Riveting

by SRO on 3/31/19DR2 - New York

I went into the show interested in the story and the fact that Maddie was sharing her own actual experience. Her performance which I must think is a form of therapy for her was mesmerizing from the beginning to the end and her ability to perform it so honestly with genuine emotion made me understand once again my passion for live theatre. Kudos to Ms. Corman

I saw Accidently Brave on Saturday with two friends. Maddie Corman is beyond amazing and we all loved her play. It is raw and emotional and incredibly honest. An hour and a half felt like 15 minutes. Bravo to you Maddie for not only handling such a delicate subject, but for navigating through it so eloquently.
