About

A SILENT FILM IN CONCERT:

English rockers A Silent Film are anything but quiet with their exciting, energy-fueled anthems and rip-roaring live shows. The band’s upbeat music is perfectly suited for their electrifying concerts, where they pump fans up with the love story of "Danny, Dakota and the Wishing Well" and chant along with audiences on "Harbour Lights". Their synth-heavy music is bold, uplifting, and sure to have fans dancing all night long on their unforgettable tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Hailing from England, A Silent Film started out as the band Shouting Myke but renamed themselves in 2005 after a departure in band members and the addition of two newcomers. The group released The Projectionist EP in 2007, but it wasn’t until the 2008 release of their debut album The City That Sleeps that they really broke out. The album was a critical and commercial success and received praise for its catchy rock sound. They followed up in 2012 with Sand and Snow, which featured the narrative song "Danny, Dakota and the Wishing Well" and a more cinematic approach than their previous record. They've served as the opening act for major rock groups like OneRepublic, the Smashing Pumpkins, and the Temper Trap and have gained a steady cult following along the way. On tour A Silent Film always thrills with lively sets of fan favorites.

The concert was amazing! All the artists were amazing! New Politics and Misterwives were my favorite, but A Silent Film, Big Data, and Fox Trot and the Get Down were great too.

    Amazing talent.

by TheDeester on 6/10/15Festival Pier (at Penn's Landing) - Philadelphia

Every band killed it. Foxtrot sounded great. Big Data was the reason I went to the concert and they sounded fantastic - I want to see a full set by them now. Misterwives was also so phenomenal I plan on seeing a full set by them as well. Didn't stay for New Politics or A Silent Film but New Politics I know for a fact puts on killer performances.

BIg Data should've closed out the show

by djp2000 on 6/10/15Festival Pier (at Penn's Landing) - Philadelphia

It's a shame Big Data were the 2nd band to perform out of 5. They have the best songs. I, as well as many others, left before A Silent Film began. I saw them at a 104.5 show a few years ago and they kind of stunk. They really only had 1 good song and aren't a reason to headline. The singer is a wanna-be Mick Jagger and they just don't have the songs worthy of a good show.

    New appreciation for MisterWives!

by BdizzFoShizz on 6/10/15Festival Pier (at Penn's Landing) - Philadelphia

I was most looking forward to seeing Big Data- but was super disappointed- they sounded awful...I am assuming something to do with their soundcheck. But definitely have a new appreciation for MisterWives- lead singer chick said she was sick as all hell but she rocked it! She sounded amazing and so did the band. They were super fun to watch. Didn't stay for A Silent Film.

A Silent Film was amazing- so talented!

by LynnieOOO on 11/25/13Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

A silent film was great, the room was so intimate and I felt like I was singing with the lead singer. the opening act hands was terrible, and a silent film went on pretty late- I had hoped they would be on definitely before 10, but there were 2 openers so that did not happen

    Great Venue, Great Show

by TheMsKaz on 6/23/13The Sinclair - Cambridge

The show was great, not just the band, but the two openers. This venue has great acoustics and is a smaller setting.

    entertaining and lively

by Somercamb on 6/23/13The Sinclair - Cambridge

A Silent Film were a lot of fun to see live. Recently, I've seen a bunch of bands of whom I probably wouldn't see again (JOY Formidable) even though they put on a good show. A Silent Film is NOT one if those bands. I would see them again for sure as well as the amazing Jillette Johnson who opened for them.

    What a great show!!!

    by FSUis1 on 2/24/13Club 620 - St. Petersburg

Saw them in St. Petersburg, FL on January 25th and they were phenomenal! As good as they sound on record, they were even better live. They stayed around afterwards and hung out with their fans. What a treat!

    best night ever!!

by charbaka on 2/15/13The Basement - Columbus

I don't go to many live gigs so I don't have much to compare these guys to, but I can honestly say that I had one of the best times of my life at this concert. Gold Fields, the band that played before ASF, totally killed it. I'd never heard them before but they blew my mind and I have since looked them up. ASF was so charming and, of course, sounded completely amazing. They connected with the audience really well & afterward were so patient about giving autographs and taking pictures, and were just overall a pleasure to meet and talk to. I would see both Gold Fields and ASF again in less than a heartbeat.

I had been waiting for months for this band to go on tour in the States and was so excited to see them play! They did not disappoint! Everything about this show was awesome, from the venue to the opening bands to the main show. The guys in A Silent Film were a lot of fun, interacting with the crowd during and after their set. You could really tell how excited they were to be there playing for us.
