A Perfect Circle Concert Schedule and Tour

Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Billy Howerdel have been taking the alternative rock and metal worlds by storm as A Perfect Circle since 2000. The band has been active recently in South America and Australia on a string of festival concert dates in early 2013 after a massive US tour in the summer of 2011. The legendary live dynamics of Howerdel's precision playing and Keenan's world-class rock baritone has fans snapping up tickets rapidly. Concerts consist of simple sets along with an amalgam of music from all three of their albums. They also perform tasteful renditions of some surprising cover songs, as noted in their most recent greatest hits album, Three Sixty (2013).

Howerdel is a former guitar tech for rock-world heavyweights Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins and Fishbone. He and Keenan met in 1992 when Tool was opening for Fishbone. The union began as the brainchild of Howerdel, who had been working on the music for a number of years prior to playing some demos for Keenan. The singer suggested that he could hear himself performing the songs, and the circle was put into motion. Their debut album, Mer De Noms appeared at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The band later produced the 2003 album Thirteenth Step and 2004's eMOTIVe. Keenan and Howerdel share the lineup with top-notch rock royalty James Iha, formerly of Smashing Pumpkins, who holds down rhythm guitar, while bassist Matt McJunkins was picked up from Howeredel's side project, Ashes Divide. Meanwhile, renowned Vandals and one-time Guns 'N' Roses member Josh Freese is featured on drums. A Perfect Circle appeared suddenly, cranked out tons of music and sort of just disappeared, however, years later, the group is now back with another release in a pattern that seems, well, circular.

    APC killed my buzz

by JasonHearn1970 on 10/31/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

The entire mainstage shows killed it...all upbeat and high energy and Scott Stapp brought back way old school memories from the numerous other times I saw Creed back in the day....APC was dark and gloomy and I was even in the pit all day....we left during the 1st song and went back to our hotel across the street...and had a blast all night at the bars by the hotel...

    Wow

by GoonSharp on 10/30/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Buzzfest was (as always) amazing. Chevelle destroyed! But A Perfect Circle.....damn. I was 100% shocked that they could absolutely upstage Chevelle like they did. I was beyond impressed.

    Confused by last performance

by taywin on 10/30/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

The venue was amazing and I had so much fun overall! I was not too impressed, however, with Perfect Circle. They would not allow anyone to use their phones and they performed in the dark the entire time. Definitely NOT a show I would see again.

    No More Maynard for Me

by everyonesnickname on 10/30/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Buzzfest was fantastic until A Perfect Circle came on. Who was that? We'll never know! No lights, no screens, nothing even highlighting the guitars or drums. People pay to go to concerts not just to hear the show but to see the show--and we pay a lot for that! I really wanted to see A Perfect Circle, but even though I was at the show, I still haven't seen them! Pretentious? Shy? Anxious? Introverted? What ever--get over yourself and put on some really dark glasses, Maynard. Your fans would actually enjoy seeing you there.

Side stage was too far and there was not enough time to watch the next artist without having to leave early form the other one.

    APC = OMG

by RbrtoRcha on 10/28/18Austin360 Amphitheater - Austin

Definitely one of the best live shows I’ve been to. The band sounded great, the vocals were clear, the guitars were absolutely sonic and I could feel the bass drum in my chest. The visuals were pretty awesome in their own right and they totally complimented the music rather than take away from it. I had an amazing time.

    Boring

by SqueakieQueen on 10/28/18Austin360 Amphitheater - Austin

The show was incredibly boring. The show was so dark, we couldn’t see anything but lights. If I wanted to not see the band, I’d have gotten the live album. In addition, understanding that there is to be no recording allowed and respecting that, we were chastised for texting on our phones like children. We couldn’t use our phones, yet the guests around us were smoking and using drugs. This was an wholly unfavorable experience and we will never be contributing to A Perfect Circle again.

    Poor Experience

    by JRB85 on 10/26/18Bridgestone Arena - Nashville

I saw A Perfect Circle when they played at Bridgestone Arena in 2017. To say I was excited was an understatement...the last time I saw them play was in 2003/4 in Memphis when I was in High School. What. A. Letdown. The group seemed as if they were just going to through the motions. It was their first time on-tour in nearly a decade, the new album was starting to get hyped up and the fans were ecstatic throughout. Yet...there were NO interactions with the fans. Maynard stayed hidden, in the back, where you couldn't see him at all. He didn't do anything except sing...which is normally fine because, hey, that's why we go to concerts in the first place right? Except the band's energy level wasn't there at all. It's hard to describe but to sum it up: The concert was boring. I didn't even know that was possible...but it's how I felt. No encore or thanking the fans for coming out. No promotions for the new album outside of playing one new song. It was a pathetic performance. The guys are coming back to Bridgestone/Nashville next Friday...I won't be attending.

    A Must See Live

by Juliebythebeach on 10/11/18SDSU Open Air Theater - San Diego

The afterglow lasted a week. Amazing sound and clarity. Maynard on his elevated stand, always hidden by shadows. I felt like I was in a dream. This is my LEAST favorite venue but if you don't see them here, definitely see them somewhere,

A Perfect Circle performed a great show and I would definitely go watch them again and again. However, I was not impressed with the sound quality in the Mizzou Arena.
