Amazing, great acting, singing, stage set up, theatre, prices, everything
This play was marketed as a "family" event; however, the Old English dialogue was very difficult for younger children...even those as old as young teens/tweens. There was very little singing/song entertainment. While I realize the Old English is true to the story, this play would have been much better suited for families with more breaks from talking with more singing and dancing.
This was a great first exposure to A Christmas Carol for our son. I was wondering if it would be too watered down, but no, it was the real story, Dickens’ words, great staging and acting, just in a shorter time frame. Highly recommend.
Really great...fantastic show for the holiday. My children (age 7 and 10) loved it! Thank you so much for a special day!
My wife and I come every year to The Walnut Street Theatre for this Dickens Classic We have never been disappointed Another Fantastic Performance
The actors are just wonderful!!! Love Walnut theater in general!!!
Love this theater. I’ve never been disappointed by any performance I’ve seen.
We have seen a lot of shows over the last few decades and this show was the best. Obviously the story isn’t new. However the acting, stage transition, & the scenery were outstanding. The theatre was alternating shows with Shrek and I thought it would take away from this show, Christmas Carol. I was wrong.
Excellent show. Perfect length to keep kids interested throughout. Have been taking my boys the last 4 years and it’s different every year. Can’t beat the price either.
I have been to the Walnut to see A Christmas Carol many times (as we used to bring our 7th graders each year.) I was saddened by the bit of technology (screen in backdrop.) It took away from the usually wonderful scenery and props. The actors did a fantastic job, this was a wonderful Scrooge!
A very entertaining performance. The seats were first rate and everyone at the Walnut St theater was helpful and accommodating. An enjoyable experience all round.
I took my daughter to see it and she loved it, it's easy to find, easy to park ($32 right next to it). The staff is friendly, so far so good, I'll be back.
Came to this show with 19 other adults - a bit worried it would be just for kids. It wasn’t. We loved it! Perfect holiday show - entertaining, sweet and short! Everyone left happy.
This show was flawless. The actors were excellent. Truly enjoyed this performance.
We go every year and this has been one of the best! Amazing cast. Very professional production and we can't wait to see it again next year.
They have the same show yearly but it is always done differently with still being loyal to the Dickens story. Tough for the little kids to understand but I have been taking Sam am since he was 5 (11 now) and he gets more and more out of the story. Well done WST.
My husband and I took our two grandchildren, ages 9 and 7, to see the play at this beautiful, historical theater. We had great seats in the mezzanine, so we had a full view of the stage. How the story was put into a one hour play, without missing any of the key components of the story, was amazing! The actors easily went from character to character without distraction to the audience. We all enjoyed it!
This was a great show for everyone. We took our 9 and 10 year old children and they loved the show too. It was a great way to celebrate the holidays.
We;ve been attending this show for a number of years. Our Granddaughters love it. Last year was almost the last as we attended on the final Saturday at the 1pm show. We had a miserable time as people were allowed to enter the show during the first 30-40 minutes or so. It was very distracting and a terrible experience for those of us who arrived on time. It was almost the last. Our granddaughters wanted to try it one more time and I have to say the show was great. Some of the new cast members were excellent but we did miss the post show Q@A. It only took 5 extra minutes and gave some of the younger attendees a chance to connect with the actors.
show was extremely entertaining, very good value for the price, seating excellent, questions to actors after the play was very informative, only bad situation was that this was an afternoon performance attended by what seemed liked a million rowdy school children, it was hard to maneuver about the lobby, use the restrooms, and leave the theater especially for the several seniors in our group and two members who recently had knee and hip surgery. Had I known this would be a children's matinee before hand and would have purchased tickets for a later time..
