THE UNTOLD TRUE STORY OF A BROOKLYN KID WHO BECAME A CHART-BUSTING, SHOW-STOPPING, AWARD-WINNING AMERICAN ICON

Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, A BEAUTIFUL NOISE is the uplifting true story of how a kid from Brooklyn became a chart-busting, show-stopping American rock icon. With 120 million albums sold, a catalogue of classics like "America," "Forever in Blue Jeans," and "Sweet Caroline," an induction into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, a Grammy® Lifetime Achievement Award, and sold-out concerts around the world that made him bigger than Elvis, Neil Diamond's story was made to shine on Broadway-and head out on the road across America.

Like Jersey Boys and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical before it, A BEAUTIFUL NOISE THE NEIL DIAMOND MUSICAL is an inspiring, exhilarating, energy-filled musical memoir, that tells the untold true story of how America's greatest hitmaker became a star, set to the songs that defined his career.

  • Fantastic - Have to see

by Dave on 9/6/25Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5

The show was staged in a innovated way that told the human side of the Neil Diamond story and the background ro much of his music. The direction and performance was fantastic as well. If you are a Neil Diamond fan, this show is a Must See!

  • Not Bad, But Definitely Not Broadway

by Dinosaur on 9/6/25Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 3 out of 5

To be fair, this is actually a 3.5 star rating. It's not a bad show, and you're paying less than Broadway prices to attend, so take that into account. I just located to Tidewater from New Jersey, so I'm used to Broadway productions. In the end, I would recommend you see the show, particularly if you like Neil Diamond's songs (I would play my older sister's 45 of "Cracklin' Rosie"as much as I could back in the day), yet even non-fans should enjoy this, as there's good energy. Also, I would suggest taking in weekend shows to avoid the large numbers of understudies I experienced on a Wednesday night performance. Now to my impressions. First, I was sorely disappointed to get to the show and learn that lead Nick Fradiani was being replaced in this show by Joe Caskey, whose claim to fame is portraying Elvis in (SW US) regional theater. Joe started off weakly at first, but warmed up as the show got going and was a believable Neil by the second act. The framing device of Neil-Now and his therapist isn't bad, but Robert Westenberg is not believable as Neil at any age, particularly in his duet at the end with Neil-Then. His acting, along that of Lisa Renee Pitts is subpar as well; overdone and over emotive. Perhaps that is just because it's a musical. Reading it after the show, the Playbill informed they are both seasoned award-winning actors - count me surprised. Their material was not great (particularly some fairly lame jokes) and that probably had a lot to do with it. Female lead Hannah Jewel Kohn, playing Neil's second wife Marcia, was an outstanding dancer. She can kick higher than a Rockette! Her great dance moves are accompanied with satisfactory acting for a musical. But her singing left a lot to be desired for a musical lead. Example: her time to shine in a solo of "Forever in Blue Jeans"was a great dance, yet her singing - supposed to be mournful - was just flat and uninspired. The chorus did a good job of singing the backgrounds, and their dancing was also quite good - when it wasn't being upstaged by Ms. Kohn. However, the several numbers on which they sang together as "lead"were so-so. In all, a good show for a touring production. If this comes to your town, giver serious consideration to going.

  • Corny

by RH on 9/5/25Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 2 out of 5

If you are looking for a good county fair performance, this will meet your expectations. If you are looking for a true Broadway performance, this will fall very short!

  • Loved it Again

    by Barbara H on 9/5/25Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I saw as Beautiful Noise in Greensboro in March and absolutely loved it. When I saw that it was in Norfolk we decided to drive 4+hours to see it again. It was just as good although we missed Nick Fradiani as Neil then. If you hadn’t seen Nick as Neil, you wouldn’t have know a difference. Both sang exceptionally well and sounded like Neil Diamond. If we have the opportunity, we’ll go a third time!

by Tracy F on 8/1/25Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Nick Frandiani sounds just like Neil Diamond and I was swept back to they heyday of all his tunes. Masterful singing and production by Nick and all the actors, the storyline was compelling and it weaved beautifully with each song. Really enjoyable!

  • Room for improvement

by Bb on 7/30/25Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the music but several friends and I agree that the choreography was uneven and out of sync and distracted from Neils musical performance.

  • Love me Some Neil

by Cynthia on 7/30/25Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best musical I have seen. I would see it again

  • It’s all about Nick Fradiani , outstanding

by Gooner on 7/30/25Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Aside from the strange silence at the beginning of the play, the rest went along really well, Nick Fradiani who plays the Young Neil Diamond was absolutely outstanding, his voice was so good. I had to listen hard to see if he was lip syncing the real Neil Diamond. Unfortunately, the guy who played the older Neil Diamond didn’t sound anything like him speaking or singing, which, although it did not distract from the show, it certainly didn’t add anything. How difficult could it have been to find an actor who could actually sound like him. The musical numbers are well presented, and the device of having Neil tell his story to a psychiatrist was very American. I would’ve been just as happy to watch Nick in concert as Neil Diamond from beginning to end such was his mastery. I would definitely recommend you go see it as long as Nic is the lead

  • Neil Baby

by Grammie D on 7/30/25Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Neil has been in my life for over 50 years and I came today to hear his music. Hearing about his life was a first today. I was happy to hear he had so much love along with the music. His relationship with his therapist was an unexpected twist and their conversation took up more of the play than the music. We had close up seats. The dancers were entertaining, costumes were amazing, voices were fabulous.
