TIMBALAND IN CONCERT:

Perhaps no other figure has had as significant an impact on the sound of contemporary pop as multi-talented rapper/producer Timbaland.  With production credits that read like a who's who of the last 25 years in music, Timbo has crafted some of the most unique and groundbreaking hits of the era — and his solo work is no exception. Following a special-guest-filled tour in support of 2009's Shock Value II, Timbaland joined Jay Z on his 2013/14 Magna Carta World Tour, adding to the already-feverish anticipation for his 2014 album Textbook Timbo.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I loved how he interacted with the audience and did both new and old songs."

"Timbaland was great and the light effects were awesome."

"Thanks to the musical genius of Timbo, this was an unparalleled concert experience as far as the sound and visual effects are concerned... he showed us his beat-making side, his creativity, his singing, his promoting, and his amazing ability to mix live instruments and beats and music from other artists."

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Virginia, Timbaland took up DJing and beatmaking as a teen before teaming up with childhood pal Missy Elliott in 1996 to produce Aaliyah's double platinum sophomore album One In A Million. The duo quickly became one of the decade's most successful production/songwriting teams, with Timbaland assuming production duties on Elliott's 1997 debut Supa Dupa Fly — another platinum success. Timbo made his album debut a year later with  Tim's Bio: Life from da Bassment, a compilation of tracks featuring many of his recurring collaborators, including the on-record debut of a young Ludacris. His production work in the 2000s resulted in some of the decade’s biggest hits, resulting in 13 Grammy nominations and two wins — both for songs performed by Justin Timberlake. In 2007, TImbo reignited his solo career with Shock Value, topping charts around the world and earning him his first US No.1 with "Give it to Me."

The show was ok, but I feel the energy was not up to par

Show was amazing!!!! The crowd on my side wasn't.

by TashaPC on 1/20/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

Well, let me first start by saying that I am a huge Timbaland fan. I have been listening to his music and the music he has produced for other artists for years. When I found out he was coming to Boston, I bought my tickets the first day they went on sale. I have never been to one of his shows and I couldn't wait...I went straight from work with a friend. This could have been an even better show, but I have to say, Boston did not do Timbo a justice, at least the majority of the people in my immediate surroundings. I got there early and pushed my way up to the front. To my surprise, this area was not nearly as hyped up as it should have been. The people on the other side of the stage seemed to be having a really great time, but the people in the FRONT of the stage on my side did not seem to be there for Timbaland. They all rocked out for The Honor Society and knew all the words for every song, but then fell silent for the rest of the show, but stayed in the front!!! Nothing for Sebastian, nothing for Petey Pablo, nothing for Timbaland. I think it is absolutely great when opening acts are a hit with the crowd and people know their music even if they're not well-known and the opening acts were great, but let's not getit twisted. This was a TIMBALAND show! Don't stay in the front if (for some weird reason) you came to see someone else. Most of the people (little teenagers) in the front on my side were just standing there trying to look backstage at someone else they thought was going to be there, waving over and over to some random person in the back, the entire time Timbo was doing his thing. Whoever they thought was going to come out never came and their lack of enthusiasm for the main event brought down the entire front half of the stage. There were people around me that managed to push their way to the front who were there for Timbo, but were surrounded by a large group of people who suck. I even saw one girl in the very front tweeting stating "Timbaland, enough is enough, it has been two hours." WHAT?!! This is a Timbaland show! She stood in the very front in a place where someone who came to enjoy the music should have been. When he came to our side and asked if "we feel it," he meant it! Timbo wanted to give Boston an awesome show, he wanted us to feel the music. A few of us in the front were moving to the music and enjoying it, but when you look down and see people on their cell phones, standing still, looking backstage, ignoring the effort and energy you're putting into the music, it's just ridiculous! They probably made him feel like he was wasting his time and it's a shame for the people who really wanted to enjoy the show to its fullest. We didn't do him a justice. His energy feeds off of the crowd and he spent most of his time on the other side of the stage. I don't blame him in the least and still feel that he threw Boston an amazing show despite the lack of energy on one side of the stage. Parts of songs and beats that should have been replayed over and over again because the crowd was enjoying it so much and Timbo was feeding off of our energy and pleasure from his music instead just played once. I don't understand why certain people came to this show, or at least why they didn't move after they saw the part they came for. Bottom line - I regret that I didn't try to push my way to the other side; I just didn't think I would be able to get as close to the stage, but in retrospect I would have probably had a better time despite that. I live here, but next time I see Timbo, I will be travelling somewhere else to see what his show is really like when the people are hyped up for it. Sad that some people in Boston didn't show him a good time. That being said, there are a lot of people here who love him and his music and we hope this doesn't make him not want to return to our area. I'd certainly see him in Boston again, but I'm going to go to one of his shows somewhere else too.

    Timbaland was disappointing

by redtapeshoe on 1/20/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

He didn't come out for close to 2 hours after show time started - had a DJ there and opening act but they were pretty awful. I have seen Timbaland before with JT and he was amazing! Last night's show was tough to sit through. He sounded awful (although he said he had a cold) and then spent 20 minutes singing/talking to crowd about doing shots of Patron! With no end in sight of this monologue we decided to leave. Hope he puts on a better show on his next stop but in Boston he didn't bring it!

    Worst. Show. Ever.

by Anonymous on 1/20/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

Timbaland didn't come on until 9:45. He made it through a couple songs but then spent about a half hour wishing random girls in the audience Happy Birthday. Then suddenly he disappeared and wasn't seen again. Maybe someone should stop him from drinking too much before a show.

    Timbaland was a snooze

by amisaad on 1/20/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

Dont get me wrong, I love timbaland, and I had heard great things about his performances. When I think of Timbaland I dont really picture an amazing performer, but i figured it would be one big dance party.... NO. Timbaland was on from 9:30-11:30 and played... maybe 7 songs?? He talked, and talked, and talked, and talked.... and his DJ talked, and talked, and talked. It was the most anticlimatic event ever. He ended the show by playing a random song.... talked for 20 minutes. and then being like "k well im gonna leave now". He mentioned he had a cold, but it REALLY was the worst show I have ever been to. SOOOO disappointing. I actually left sad. No joke.... i'm mad!

    No Jay Sean?

by Hdiggity on 1/20/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

Jay Sean was supposedly going to sing in the concert. But the only Jay Sean we heard was Honor Society singing Down for about 30 seconds. Otherwise, the concert wasn't bad. But it was a big disappointment that Jay Sean didn't sing.

Timbland ehhh Honor Society woo hoo!!!!

by Brit7849013857 on 1/19/10Rams Head Live! - Baltimore

Honor Society came out first and they rocked it! They were really good! Once they were over Timbaland's crew was setting up which to waaaaay to long. Then some random guy came out sebastian, he was cool he signed things and took pics. But the skinny rapper Rico was horrible. Finally Timbaland came out, he was okay I expected it to be better. I met honor society after that was sweet! I was there for honor society mostly anyway.

The opening act Honor Society blew everyone away.

by HonorSocietyGal on 1/19/10Rams Head Live! - Baltimore

Timbaland was great and the light effects were awesome. But Honor Society did so well. I wish they could have played more songs. They are true rock stars!

Timbaland did the best he could with what he had

by Anonymous on 1/18/10The Norva - Norfolk

The show that Tim put on was fabulous other than the fact that the Norva was not prepared for such a hi-tech performance. They didn't even open the doors until 9:00 (the show was supposed to start at 9;00) causing the show to be delayed for over an hour. Tim had planned for many special effects that couldn't be displayed as intended but he made the most of it and sure did deliver. No special guest was there for the show but I got my ticket with the intention of only seeing him. He did promise that he would bring Justin back to Hampton Roads for a show - and I've got it recorded so he better keep his word!!

    Dissapointed in Timberland's Performance

by NJTS on 1/18/10Rams Head Live! - Baltimore

I had fun listening to the music but it certainly didn't feel like a concert. Timberland is great at making beats but he's not much of a performer or singer (uses auto-tune). I thought maybe there would be some guest artists to compliment his great production but no luck. It was all recordings. Sad.

    Whole set up was unprofessional

by Anonymous on 1/18/10The Norva - Norfolk

This was my first time to go to any concert; and I was kind off dissapointed, I am glad my friends were there, so it was not too boring; I did not like the part that Timbaland came out on stage at 12 midnight, and I could bearly hear him, because it was not clear enough, i couldn't understand what he was singing. I wish there were more entertainment for people for this money. I hope next time will be better sorry :)

    Boring

by Shungy on 1/16/10The Norva - Norfolk

Was expecting a concert, I should have known better... I love timbaland and all his beats but he is just a producer and shouldn't be on stage without the artist he made the songs for. Also it took two hours after the show was supposed to start for him to come out on stage.
