THE M MACHINE IN CONCERT:

San Francisco trio the M Machine has quickly earned a reputation as one of the most exciting live acts in dance music. The Skrillex-endorsed group is known for pushing the envelope on stage, looping and manipulating their dance-inducing tracks with live vocals. Whether they're blowing minds with their state-of-the art visuals, raising pulses with bangers like "Promise Me a Rose Garden", or dropping their popular remixes of Passion Pit and Empire of the Sun, the M Machine go the extra mile to deliver a truly customized concert experience ticket buyers can't get anywhere else.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The M Machine, formerly known as Pance Party, formed in San Francisco in 2011. They were quickly recognized by Skrillex and signed to his OWSLA label, and they released their debut EP Promise Me a Rose Garden/Glow on the imprint just a few months later. That record was a success, topping Beatport's Electro House chart and landing on numerous year-end lists. They quickly followed up with the two-part Metropolis EP, dropping Part I in 2012 and unleashing Part II in 2013. Both installments topped the Beatport overall chart and generated significant buzz that was further fueled by their critically acclaimed live shows. With a highly anticipated debut full-length in the works, the M Machine continue to get fans moving and shaking with their cutting-edge live performances on tour.

    Mysterious and Unique

by Kanohi on 4/25/12The Music Box/Fonda Theater - Hollywood

Happened to catch this EDM trio opening for Porter Robinson on his Spitfire tour. For an artist who had very little material at the time, they managed to make their set not only interesting, but memorable! The M Machine's stage was backlit by an enormous M (their logo) composed of a few dozen square panels. This provided a nice respite from the usual wall of LEDs that most artists use. The visuals were simple but captivating, including one part where they used the panels as blocks and simulated a Tetris game. The music itself was wonderful, they stretched and cut the songs "Promise Me a Rose Garden" and "Glow" to extend throughout their entire set while throwing in other material that I couldn't name at the time including a single released recently "No Fun Intended". In short, I'd say my initial feeling from The M Machine was one of Modest Mouse blended seamlessly with modern EDM elements. They had a very refined look in formal clothing (vests, collared shirts) and generally had a unique feel about them. With the recent release of their "Metropolis Pt.1" EP on OWSLA Records, I'd definitely suggest keeping an eye on these guys in the very near future.
