it was worth waiting through the 5 opening bands.

The show was nothing short of amazing. We traveled from PA just for this show, and it was totally worth it.

Sean Nelson + School of Rock = Fun Night!

by gregdawg89 on 10/24/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

I was initially concerned when I heard Roderick was going it alone with the kids from the School of Rock, but it turned out amazing. The kids were awesome, skilled musicians and singers, Roderick was in fine form both musically and banter-wise, and the cherry on top of the cake was the always-wonderful Sean Nelson. The usual dry, edgy wit between Nelson and Roderick was on full display. Love it! And keep your eye on some of those School of Rock kids - there are some future stars in there!

I'd see John Roderick at the bottom of the ocean

Opening acts Cataldo and Campfire OK were great. Cataldo writes super catchy music and Campfire OK had great energy and good audience engagement tactics. The other band which I don't think ever announced their name, was good - but a little sleepy for a Thursday night when I'm sedating myself with alcohol already. Not surprised that I loved the LW performance at the Showbox. Somewhere between Sean Nelson and the School of Rock kids, the sound was familiar but different, with the right amount of improvisation - something that true fans are hoping to see, versus might-as-well-be-lip-synched, well-manicured album tracks which just happen to be live that time. Very nicely performed by all and worth more than I paid!
