    Da funk was brought

by Carly1973 on 12/26/13Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

Started off with Dj Scotty laying down some funky beats outside while we waited for the show. Very chill in the little patio area of the culture room. The the funky nuggets got on and killed it! They even covered Kashmir which was effing sick! The heavy pets are my favorite band so I'm a little biased when I say they had the best set! But I'm sure many people would agree ;) always a groovy time with the boys. You can really feel the togetherness of the crowd. It's just a great time. If you haven't seen em yet what the eff are you doing with your life!?

The venue is great. Sound and light system are state of the art. I am used to the Paradise in Boston. The Culture Room is what the Paradise would be if they spent some money updating the place. Staff is friendly. The place was clean and safe. The only complaint which is minor, the AC was cranking so the place was cold even when crowded but that is not that important. Haven't been used to smoking in a bar in ages so that is a bit of an adjustment for us out of towners. Bottom line great place to see a show. This event had the Aquaphonics, Kraz and the Heavy Pets. Sorry to the Pets but Aquaphonics and DJ Kraz WERE the show. The Heavy Pets should have been the opening act. Aquaphonics' drummer I think had a night off from Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem to showcase 32nd notes for 45 minutes. I was tired just watching him= fantastic

    Don't Miss The Heavy Pets

by Gratefulphish on 12/15/11The Spot Underground - Providence

I just got back from a five show run up north, extending from NY to Rhode Island down to Brooklyn, Baltimore and Philly. The Pets were on fire from end to end. Do yourself a favor, and get to the next show anywhere near you. They blend musical genres from rock to reggae, jazz to jam, funk to electronica seamlessly and effortlessly, taking you on musical voyages through beautiful passageways built upon the combined guitar leads of Jeff Lloyd and Mike Garulli, along with Jim Wuest's amazing skills on the keys. The back line of Jamie Newitt and Justin Carney keep it thumping and driving. If you are going to be in South Florida over New Years, The Heavy Pets is where you want to be.
