Crowded and Long Waits
by Webby on 5/14/24Smith's Ballpark - Salt Lake CityTo begin, there’s obviously always been a problem regarding parking at Smith Ballpark. They never anticipated or planned for a large amount of people (which in this instance was 50% capacity) to attend games, and every block for half a mile is full of cars. If you do find a spot to park, it’s filled with a homeless encampment. Once we entered the stadium (which was down to one gate entry), we were surrounded by people with nowhere to go without running into someone. I figured it was just a busy game, but soon found out that wasn’t the case. The concessions were the cause. Every single concessions stand had lines wrapping into the corridor and in people’s way. No one knew where they ended. We did try to get food, but after waiting in one single spot for 15 minutes with no sign of movement, we bailed and decided to eat after the game. We noticed that this particular concession stand had one worker operating 5 different registers, along with getting the food prepped. If you are going to be that short staffed, don’t try to operate more than 2 registers at a time.
