About

RICK SPRINGFIELD IN CONCERT:

Rock superstar Rick Springfield has been wooing audiences with his polished voice and leading-man looks ever since his rise to fame in the early '70s. More than four decades later, he looks and sounds as good as ever, treating fans to an unforgettable evening of solo performance and storytelling on his Stripped Down tour. Taking time between each song to relay the touching and humorous stories that inspired them, Springfield has proven that his talents as an entertainer extend well beyond his musical abilities. Whether fans catch him solo or performing with a full band, they can count on plenty of showmanship and charisma as he works his way through nostalgic hits like "Jesse's Girl" and "Don't Talk to Strangers."

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Australian-born Rick Springfield began playing the guitar at age 13, cutting his teeth in several bands in England after his army officer father relocated the family there in 1958. After a stint fronting the British band Zoot in the late '60s, Springfield launched his solo career in 1971 with debut single "Speak to the Sky," a Top 10 hit in his native Australia. After releasing several moderately successful albums in the '70s, Springfield hit his stride in 1981 with Working Class Dog, a massive success propelled by the No. 1 hit "Jesse's Girl." 1982's My Success Hasn't Spoiled Yet fared similarly, landing at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawning several more hit singles. A veteran showman with four decades of touring under his belt, Springfield returns to the road once again for a string of highly anticipated tour dates.

by Babs on 5/15/24Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater - Tuscaloosa

Don’t miss 38 Special. Rick Springfield was on my list of want to see. Now it is off and I have done it. Would go to 38 Special again.

    Ok

by JJ on 5/15/24Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater - Tuscaloosa

Rick Springfield was a good entertainer but he played a lot of new music that no one knew. Didn’t enjoy him as much as 38 special. I will say being that I work on Mondays. I won’t be going to any more concerts that end 10:30 anymore on Sundays.

Rick Springfield was on my wife's Bucket List. This 74yo didn't disappoint! Moving around like a 20yo and engaging the crowd. Very happy with the concert.

    The Best Energy!!

by Deb on 5/15/24Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater - Tuscaloosa

Rick Springfield brought the house down! It was a high energy, very interactive concert. It was an absolutely fabulous evening, including opening with 38 Special. I took a friend who had never seen Rick in concert and now she is a very excited follower.

We were familiar with their music , but didn’t consider ourselves big fans. Thoroughly enjoyed this concert. They both sounded great and had lots of chemistry and very entertaining. I consider myself a fan now.

Richard was A.+, Rick not so much...

by Leslitamamacita on 5/14/24IP Casino Resort and Spa - Biloxi

Rick and Richard had a great rapport, making it more enjoyable for the audience. They showed old pictures and music videos, which made the evening feel more intimate. Musically, Richard Marx 100% showed up for the entertainment. Unfortunately, Rick Springfield spent a little too much time patting himself on the back for acting gigs, past and present, instead of giving a top-notch vocal performance. His voice was just not strong, plain and simple. And when he sang one of Marx' songs, he was truly off key, voice cracking. He also had some type of injury or disease of both wrists, rendering him unable to perform about 75% of his own music. Instead, we had a guest guitarist. Although this guest performer was good, I intended and paid to see and hear an acoustic night with Rick and RIchard and did not get what I paid for. Both performers tried hard to deliver but I was slightly disappointed.

    But Richard Marc was better

by Ducky on 5/14/24IP Casino Resort and Spa - Biloxi

Small intimate setting in casino so we only got acoustic songs. Richard Marx was with Springfield and was much more entertaining !
