Pittsburgh Penguins History
The Pittsburgh Penguins joined the National Hockey League for the 1967-1968 season during the League's expansion from six to 12 teams. The Penguins played at Civic Arena (nicknamed "the Igloo") until the 2009-2010 season, when they moved to PPG Paints Arena (formerly CONSOL Energy Center).
Postseason appearances have been nearly a birthright for the Penguins and their fans since the 1990-1991 season, after which they won five Stanley Cup Championships. They've won six conference championships and earned the Stanley Cup Champion title in back-to-back seasons (2016 and 2017) with coach Mike Sullivan and the great Sidney Crosby as captain at the helm.
In the 2005 NHL Draft the Penguins selected Crosby as their No. 1 pick. Dubbed “The Next One,” Crosby has spent an historic 18 seasons with the Penguins and enters the 2023-2024 at 25th on the league’s all-time scoring list.
The franchise boasts more than a dozen former players in the NHL Hall of Fame, including Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis, Mark Recchi, Bryan Trottier, and Paul Coffey. The Penguins most recently made the playoffs in 2022. To date, they've appeared in the playoffs 37 times in their 55 seasons.

Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena
PPG Paints Arena has served as the home ice of the Pittsburgh Penguins since the arena opened in 2010. With seats up to 24 inches wide, the arena offers some of the most comfortable seating arrangements in the NHL. The arena also features an HD center-ice scoreboard for high-tech entertainment, replays and scores, as well as two 360-degree LED rings that encircle the seating bowl, making a first-of-its-kind experience for Pittsburgh sports fans.
The Pittsburgh Penguins’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at home as the Penguins face off against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Penguins play their final game of the regular season at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York against Metropolitan Division opponents the New York Islanders. The Penguins have made six appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, and have won the Stanley Cup five times (in 1991, 1992, 2009, 2016 and 2017).

We try and frequent as many Penguins games we can and it’s always an amazing time. Win or lose, obviously prefer the win, we enjoy everything about attending a game to cheer on our team and just love the city of Pittsburgh!!
My first Penguins game ended in OT shootout, other then the loss the game was awesome. The seats were great, easy access to concession stands. Would definitely go to another game at PPG

Too bad we lost but PPG Paints Arena is a great venue to watch hockey. I’ve been to games in the US and Canada and PPG Paints is among the best. The seats were great.We love the scoreboard/video center. I like how they even have angled screens so people on the sides can easily see whats being shown.

Came from Bracebridge, Ontario to watch Penguins play on home ice. Stayed downtown which was so convenient for day trips before game night.
I bought tickets to the Pittsburgh Penguins game as a Christmas gift for my husband. He loved it! Paints arena was nice and we'll definitely be back to see the penguins 🐧!!!

We were able to get good seats for just a little over $150 each. We will definitely use Ticketmaster again when we want to go to a Pens game.
Adding a stop at the Pittsburgh arena to their hockey team was an excellent side trip. Although the Penguins didn’t win, they and their captain, Crosby show put on a good show. Our seats were excellent and the people around us were over the top friendly. The hotel right beside the arena was perfect as well.

Other than the unavoidable group of alcoholics that can’t sit still I always seem to find in front of me the arena and game were great.
First time at PPG Paints Arena, flew in from Detroit to watch the best team in history win back to back game. Great venue, great atmosphere, and people!
The game experience and entertainment during the breaks were highly entertaining although the noise level from the latter was much higher than necessary. Main complaint was the really long time it took to exit the upper level after the game. The system / usher for crowd control were terribly inefficient
