The Pajama Club has many new members

by finnfan09 on 6/29/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

It's always a pleasure to see Neil Finn. With his wife, Sharon on bass and vocals, and two other members (my apologies for forgetting your names), the Pajama Club showed up with a unique style of very enjoyable music. Some of the tunes were reminiscent of Split Enz. The catchiness of some of the songs led to sing-a-longs from the crowd. Their sons: Liam and Elroy joined them on stage for an extended jam that ended on a dime to Neil's pleasure. The different environment allowed Neil freedom and range in his creation of music with Sharon. Bravo and Brava!

    Great Synergy

by nahum1111 on 6/29/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

What a treat we were given to see Neil and his wife Sharon rock the bowery ballroom with some fresh and electrifying sounds. Sean and Alanna were also terrific. I love all the songs they played but I was pleasantly surprised by the talent of Sharon. Her voice and bass playing were on point and I was left wondering why she has not been on stage all these years. Of course the finale was superb with Liam and Elroy Finn taking the stage and it was if I was witnessing history.

What a fun, rocking and totally hip concert! Have loved Neil Finn's music since Split Enz. Wasn't disappointed by the new music direction.

    Neil Finn's new band

by AstoriaKiwi on 6/28/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Enjoyed hearing Neil's new music from his new band, Pajama Club, before the release of their first album in September. Generally, the style is more driving, percussive & electrobeat (lots of playful synth) sounding. Lyrically, at least what was understandable, it seemed simpler - perhaps a little too simple. At times, the band seemed to be a work-in-progress (Neil said that this was their 6th gig) but no doubt they'll smooth out the rough edges. It's refreshing to see Neil still creatively cooking & still enjoying performing after all these years - his rapport with his audiences is still intact too.
