Incredible!
by Sweet on 4/29/24Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleIt was such a good show! A good chunk was from the new album (which I love) but there were several of their classic tunes played as well.

NICKEL CREEK IN CONCERT:
Seven years after their 2007 Farewell (For Now) Tour, contemporary bluegrass trio Nickel Creek are making good on their promise of a reunion, hitting the road in support of 2014's A Dotted Line —their first new album since 2005. Featuring innovative fiddle, mandolin, and guitar work, the group's acoustic performances are an impressive display of coordination, highlighted by tight instrumental interplay and intricate vocal harmonies. Celebrating 25 years since their formation, Nickel Creek's 2014 tour will treat fans to their biggest hits alongside material from the new album, with select appearances by country sweethearts the Secret Sisters.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed by Chris Thile and siblings Sara and Sean Watkins in 1989, Nickel Creek began performing as pre-teens, playing bluegrass festivals in the '90s while receiving home-schooling between tour dates. Following two early albums, the trio teamed up with country-folk legend Alison Krauss for their self-titled third album, a critical and commercial success that received several Grammy nominations. 2002's This Side proved an even more momentous success, earning the group a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album with its creative blend of indie rock and traditional bluegrass elements. Following the 2005 release of their Grammy-winning fifth album Why Should the Fire Die?, the band went on a seven-year hiatus before making a triumphant return to both studio and stage with 2014's A Dotted Line.
It was such a good show! A good chunk was from the new album (which I love) but there were several of their classic tunes played as well.
Nickel Creek is one of my favorite bands! They are fabulous musicians, sing gorgeous harmonies and you can tell they have been playing together since they were kids- they are THAT good. Love them & this was one of their best shows of all time!
The show was amazing the theatre was amazing. I could have watched the show again and again!
Energetic. Artistic. Alive. Entertaining. Happy Birthday to me!!
The venue is incredible and Nickel Creek put on an amazing concert. They put on quite a show with their music and storytelling. Can’t wait to see them again and can’t wait to visit the Tennessee for my next event.
Opening act for Nickel Creek (Gaby Moreno) was awesome. She did a 30-min solo acoustic set that was beautiful. She gained a new first time fan from that performance. Nickel Creek put on a solid show as expected. It was 10 years ago since we were last able to see them live in concert. This performance did not disappoint. Good energy, great harmony, just a solid show all the way around. First time in the venue that is the 95 year old Tennessee Theater. Such a beautiful place with very comfy seats and great views of the stage from everywhere.
I used to have some Nickel Creek CDs in my office 20 years ago. I loved them and had them on all day! They got lost in moves and retirement, and of course the band took a break. When I saw they were coming to Knoxville, I was flooded with memories. I had to go. Man I am glad I did. They are better than ever. Like fine wine!
Wonder show from start to finish. We left only wanting more music.
Loved the concert! Lots of energy and a lot of great songs!
I’ve seen Nickel Creek at several venues (Buffalo, Toronto, Boston) and this show was the best ! Their mid-tour performance shows they are very comfortable with each other and excelled in their musicianship. It was a very enjoyable evening.
Absolutely amazing! The best of the best. It was everything my wife and I had hoped for and more.
They are wonderful. I enjoyed every minute of it. The song “Holding Patterns” was one of my favorites. Looking forward to seeing them again in the future!
Fantastic venue. Comfortable seats with good atmosphere. Had a great time seeing Nickel creek for the first time! They are amazing musicians and can really put on a great show.
This is the 3rd time that I have seen this group and the first time in over 15 years. They sounded as great as ever. Super talented group.
They were phenomenal. All 4 musicians are first rate. Broaden your musical horizon with this bluegrass heavy band.
I love bluegrass and Nickel Creek is blue grass on steroids! I brough a total of 5 people. We all walked away over-the-top impressed. I am SO glad they are doing music again together. Love Nickel Creek!
Nickel Creek’s reputation for virtuosity in performance is irrefutable. That stated, the sound support at the Kodak Center was exemplary. The acoustic sonics were wholly representative of the instruments and voices, yielding an extraordinary experience where nuanced timbre was discernible.
A friend recommended I attend a concert with Nickel Creek. I knew of them, but had not delved deep into their music. I was blown away - all of them are exceptional individually, and collectively creatively masterful. It was the most incredible concert I have ever been to.
Nickel Creek is one of the best performing shows I’ve ever seen. You can tell they truly love what they do and it comes through every song and every note. My husband loves them and plays their music frequently, and was so impressed with their set! He thoroughly enjoyed himself and so did I! Each individual so clearly in tune with their instruments and as a group they really create something special. Absolutely beautiful performance. No wonder they’re still going strong!!!
This concert was fantastic with some of the most beautiful harmonies, sopgisticated blue grass music and great performances. Go see them.
