About

Monica is a Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum artist, 30-million-plus selling singer, actress, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, she began her career at 12-years-of-age and was the youngest female ever to have two #1 back-to-back hits on Billboard's R&B chart. "The Boy Is Mine," the title track from her sophomore album, garnered Monica pop success with a record-breaking 13 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Her success has continued throughout her exceptional and longstanding career. She achieved six number one hits on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, becoming the first artist with chart-topping singles in three consecutive decades, putting her in the elite company of Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, James Brown, and Marvin Gaye who have had similar accolades.

In 2019 she launched her independent record label MonDeenise Music with the first single release "Commitment" hitting #1 on the Billboard R&B chart, and in August 2020 she released "Trenches (ft. Lil Baby)," the title track from her forthcoming new album, Trenches. She followed up with the release of "Friends (ft. Ty Dolla $ign)," scoring a Top 20 spot on the R&B Billboard chart. Monica followed with the official music video for "Friends." Directed by Sarah McColgan (H.E.R., Miguel, Charli XCX) and choreographed by Parris Goebel (Rihanna, SZA), the stunning clip racked up more than 2.2 MILLION views in the first week.

In 2023 Monica released her latest Trenches single "Letters" with the official music video featuring The Game - a sultry and intimate clip directed by Richard Selvi (Lil Nas X, Eminem, Polo G) from award winning creative and production studio, Swiss Made Entertainment. In addition, Summer 2023 welcomed the premiere of Monica's Apple Music show MoTalk Radio with basketball Hall of Famer & entrepreneur Shaquille O'Neal and country music star Mickey Guyton. Monica also performed on the Main Stage of the Essence Festival in New Orleans on July 1st while gracing the cover of Essence Magazine's July/August 2023 Digital Issue.

In January 2024 Rolling Stone featured Monica's hit "So Gone" at #56 in their "100 Greatest R&B Songs of the 21st Century," commending her "unapologetic realness." Monica's highly anticipated R&B album Trenches as well as her country album Open Roads (Executive Produced by Brandi Carlile) are slated for release in 2024.

    90's Review

by Tee on 2/21/24EagleBank Arena - Fairfax

The overall concert was pretty good. I was a little disappointed that the group DruHill wasn't the originals. The music was a little loud and Nokio had to ask them to turn it down so we could hear them sing. Ginuwine was AMAZING, as was Mya and Monica.

    Love Monica

by Dee Dee on 2/21/24EagleBank Arena - Fairfax

Monica's performance was A1. She brought her strong vocals and down to earth personality and killed it. I would love to have heard a few more songs, but..performance was solid!

    The expected and the unexpected

by 90’s Music Fan on 2/21/24EagleBank Arena - Fairfax

I attended the concert at Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA Parking: ✅ easy and no issues Entry: ✅ fast and efficient. Shai: they were good. Better than I expected because they haven’t been out for a while Mya: AMAZING!!! She did her thing. Excellent energy. She should have come after Ginuwine. Hit after hit! The crowd loved her performance and so did I. She hasn’t aged a bit - based this off of her performance Ginuwine: okay… he did decent. Tried to do too much and we could tell. Stamina wasn’t there. Dru Hill: Owned it!! They were great! Didn’t miss a beat! Sisqo held it down. They needed more time given their hits. They could have been the headliner because everyone was on their feet. Monica: typical Monica! Good vocals. Good audience participation. I’d see her again.

    Subpar at BEST

    by Msebony on 2/21/24

I really wanted this to be a great show. However was very disappointed. DeeDee Jones was amazing. Keke and Keri did not get a fair shot bc the sound was horrible. You could barely hear Keke and Keri's mic was completely out for her opening song. She walked off the staff. Came back but the vibe was gone for me bc she had allot of energy when she opened. Mya's set was tooooooooo long. Felt like she was stalling for Monica to arrive or something. Monica was amazing but very short performance compared to Mya. Ashanti only ok. The breaks between sets were too long. Never been to a concert that started at 7 n over after midnight. There was 3 hours of DJ intermissions. Horrible experience and disappointing for me.

Production team and MC's sucked. Profanity and sexually offensive statements between shows. Definitely not a show to bring my lady to. I was ashamed and wanted to leave after first act.

    Disappointing

by JWo on 2/20/24Simmons Bank Arena - North Little Rock

There were sound issues the entire whole. Keke & Keri’s mics never worked at all & Keri’s performance was short due to it. The doors opened at 6:00 and they let us in the arena but nobody was allowed to go to their seats until 7:30 when the show was supposed to start. It didn’t start on time, Ashanti didn’t come out until after midnight & her music was so loud we couldn’t hear her vocals.

Long wait to get to inside to seats, mic troubles, and NO Ashanti. Besides that the artist made the best under the circumstances.

    Had a great time!!!!

by Wes on 2/20/24Simmons Bank Arena - North Little Rock

The feedback I have is please start on time or at least open the arena up so people can find their seats at the time of the show. The show started late. Another thing is make sure sound checks are complete. Artist performing and then having to perform again is unacceptable. Please make sure the stage is setup for the artist. If they have a band and they have their own DJ then the stage should be setup for that. The local DJs and other people should be setup off the stage.

    Love Monica

by mo on 2/20/24Simmons Bank Arena - North Little Rock

Ok, so Simmons Bank Arena had a terrible sound system. We had to wait to enter the Arena, for them to fix the sound system before and during the show. some of the artist mic's did not work and Keri Hillson, left the stage on 2/16/24 event in Little Rock, Ar, because her mic wasn't working.

Motor City put on a trash show

by Unsatisfied on 2/20/24Simmons Bank Arena - North Little Rock

This was the worst concert experience I've ever had. The singers were not the problem. They were great, when you could hear them. They did not allow timely sound check for the artists and the mics kept malfunctioning. Just horrible. Took 4 hours for what should have been over in 2. I will be careful not to attend anything else hosted by Motor City. Just horrible. We all deserve refunds.

I loved all the ladies performance except Ashanti

by Gorgeous Lady G on 2/20/24Simmons Bank Arena - North Little Rock

Ashanti extremely too long to come out on stage! It was 12 pm at night and she still had not came out on stage but instead took her sweet old time! I really did not appreciate her performance either! I loved watching all the other ladies!
