Mike Birbiglia is a comedian, writer, director, and actor who has performed his award-winning solo shows worldwide--from the Sydney Opera House to the West End of London to Broadway. His five solo shows Sleepwalk With Me, My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, Thank God For Jokes, The New One, and The Old Man & The Pool enjoyed successful runs on and off Broadway and became hit Netflix comedy specials. The shows merge storytelling and comedy in a way that The New York Times has called "Birbiglian." Birbiglia also wrote, directed, and starred in the films Sleepwalk with Me and Don't Think Twice. As an actor, Birbiglia has appeared in the films Trainwreck, The Fault in Our Stars, Popstar, A Man Called Otto as well as TV roles in Orange Is the New Black and Billions. He hosts the podcast Mike Birbiglia's Working It Out.

Mike Birbiglia put on a great stand-up show! His timing was impeccable! Looking forward to seeing him again!
Mike is an awesome storyteller with an insight into the human condition that is uncommon, even amongst the top tier comedians.
Made me wonder what the show was forming itself to be before January. I say that because he made an emotional pull at the end with touching his father after the stroke, which was touching… but by that time I totes forgot the previous scene he had in the show with his father (pretzels I think?) thus it didn’t hit as well as I thought it could. true, maybe my short term memory is still shot, but the summing up at the end and “what I’m teaching Oona… kindness, lights out” … it didn’t seem done or complete. I’d say the next time he comes back to Chicago, he could work it at The Den because intimacy might help make it more solid? Oh, and while the show title could be whatever and even just a placeholder for whatever the show finally becomes at fruition… I don’t get the “please stop the ride”.
Mike was on point and hilarious. He kept an enjoyable pace and mixed anecdotes with jokes expertly. It was a great night out. We don’t get out much. I’m very pleased we did for this performance.
All the right feels...great balance of realism, hilarity and perspective! Mike is delightful. And Gary Simon, the opener, was awesome too!
I've seen or hear everything Mike's ever done, probably twice! So my bar is set very high. This was not one of my favorite performances-- it might be because we were in the back of the orchestra. The part none of us liked was how he ended it-- came out of nowhere. Will be interesting to stream it later and see how it evolves, if it becomes a special.
Super funny I was crying. Touching and meaningful too.
Lots of laughs! And now we have inside jokes to share, like my husband and I also share the same love language, and how I feel about a guy who is confident he can bring the heat.
The twenty three mile drive on the interstate from the hotel took 1.5 hours. The parking was $63. The sound system sounded garbled—unless that was just Mr. Birbiglia, who sounded like he’d been drinking. All in all, not a great night for comedy. Mr. B did say that Comedy is Tragedy plus Time. So I suppose this evening has potential.
