All i will say is Matt Skiba came out and just blew the night away. It was an incredible night there are no words to describe the feeling!!!!
Matt Skiba was inspiring, comical, jovial, and energetic! The show at the Barn at UCR was intimate, relaxing, and all about the music. I went with my brother and though he had misgivings about the lack of a bar on the premises, I enjoyed how the show was less rowdy and more about the music with the absence of alcohol. He played so many awesome Alkaline Trio songs and added unique twists to many of the renditions. We were so close, it felt like he was giving us a personal performance in our back yard -- especially, since we are Riverside locals!
This was hands down the best show I have ever seen. Matt was kind enough to take pictures and sign autographs for his fans, and he was completely approachable. Other than going on later than planned – his performance was sick. Matt was hysterical, and he played an amazing set. There were a few trio favorites, along with my personal favorite solo songs. His humility showed by allowing a fan to sing a song, and then inviting other fans to join him onstage…. Aside from a few dbags -this was most definitely the best night of my entire existence. True Story. I would love to see him there again...
Matt Skiba's performance was incredible. He was a 100% crowd pleaser playing favorites and old alkaline trio songs that are rarely played. I waited a long time to see Matt Skiba solo and it was truly a once in a lifetime event for me that I will never forget. Matt was genuine, sincere and wonderful. Thank you Matt!
I was looking forward to this show very much, expecting to hear some of Matt Skiba's solo tunes and maybe a handful of Alkaline Trio acoustic versions. What I got was all Alkaline Trio acoustic versions and almost no original solo songs. What was even more surprisingly annoying was the crowd, with people screaming and heckling, as if they were part of the show. While the performers handled them quite well, I really just wanted to tell them to shut up. Matt Skiba invited Dave Hause onstage to sing a few songs with him and that was fine. I was a little annoyed when Hause forgot the first verse of "Blue in the Face." But that's ok. What was not fine was when he started inviting crowd members onstage. I paid to see Matt Skiba, not some delusional idiots who think they're his friends or bandmates. I almost walked out, if it hadn't been for a couple of songs I actually wanted to hear. So I stayed and got drunk. I'll get to the even greater disappointment of the opening acts in the "Opening Act(s)" section.
The show was FANTASTIC! Small venue, so it was an intimate setting. The opening bands were good and all had great energy! Matt Skiba's performance was phenomenal! It was a GREAT night!
Matt was great! It was a very intimate show. Just fantastic.
