About

A Ragtime Romp of a Musical
Beloved Magic Tree House characters, Jack and Annie, venture through the tuneful streets of 1915 New Orleans, where they discover 14-year-old Louis Armstrong and must set him on the trumpeting path to become the “King of Jazz.” This triumphant tale explores a world where possibilities are endless and stirs the soul of the Jazz Age.

Best Suited for Ages 5 – 13
This story features mature dialogue and references to gun violence and racial segregation, with elements of suspense and surprise that may be more appropriate for children who understand the magical realism and historical undertones involved in Jack and Annie’s amazing escapades.

Great length for kids, fast paced, age appropriate, positive messages, educational, and enjoyed by my 8 year old granddaughter. Now, I'm checking for another event for grand children.

    Great Kids Experience

by sdel23 on 4/13/16Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

We truly enjoyed this entire experience. The theater was modern and the staff was very helpful. It was easy to find our seats. The play was so sweet. My 8 year old cringed when he heard it was a musical, but by the end of the show he was a believer. I wish I could say who our favorite actor was but the entire cast was so good-- I pick everyone! Throughout the story the cast left the stage and performed in the aisles. My kids got lots of personal attention and high fives. The show was one hour, no intermission. Perfect length. After the show, kids got autographs from three performers. They signed their character's name. Brilliant! We went to the 10 am show and the theater es about 80% full. They should advertise with DNAinfo.

The whole family enjoyed this show. The acting and singing was great and we love the magic treehouse series and the lessons in life that the books provide.

    Magic Treehouse

by Morganlefay2 on 4/4/16Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

We enjoyed this show with our kids...6 and 8. They both really liked seeing some of their favorite characters come to life and the show was very well done. The only complaint from the kids was that they really wished that Jack and Annie would have been played by kids.

    Extraordinary Experience

by Estelizpatt on 3/23/16Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

when looking for things to do in Chicago online Magic tree House show up so I called my friend (a teacher) and asked it she had ever heard about the Magic Tree House and she got so excited because she purchased the books for her children. I had never heard of the books so I booked the show for me and my 5 other friends. When we got there it was a building full of children, which was funny but did not expect this....because that many children in one place is usually disruptive, but this was not the case. Not only did this show capture me and my friends but it also capture each and every child in the building If the show ever came to Orlando I would surly take my grandchildren
