About

LUSH IN CONCERT:

Dream pop pioneers Lush thrilled fans in 2015 with the announcement that they were reuniting after nearly 20 years apart, and in early 2016 they further stoked the flames of excitement when they unveiled plans for their first North American tour since 1996 and released the EP Blind Spot featuring brand-new material. The band’s trademark noise rock-meets-Britpop sound is as strong and invigorating as ever, and singer/guitarists Miki Berenyi and Emma Anderson are primed and ready to unleash a sonic tidal wave of rich vocal harmonies, distorted guitars, and swirling sound effects. To top things off, Justin Welch of Elastica is sitting behind the drum kit, and he’s sure to elevate the group’s rousing live shows to new heights. With an extensive catalog of crowd favorites like “Thoughtforms”, “Sweetness and Light”, and “Desire Lines” at the ready, the reunited Lush is sure to induce alt-rock euphoria in fans both new and old.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

School friends Miki Berenyi (vocals/guitar) and Emma Anderson (guitar/vocals) formed Lush in 1987 after their former band The Baby Machines split up. Their blend of fragile vocals and distorted guitars fit in perfectly with England’s burgeoning shoegaze scene and led to a deal with venerable British label 4AD. After they released their debut mini-album Scar in 1989, Lush amassed a loyal fanbase on tour opening for like-minded group Ride. Their full-length debut Spooky came out in 1992 and featured the group’s first UK top 40 hit “For Love”. For their third album, 1996’s Lovelife, the group focused on a contemporary Britpop sound and notched hits like “Ladykillers” and “Single Girl”. Unfortunately, just as the band was breaking into the mainstream, their drummer Chris Acland committed suicide and the grief-stricken group disbanded. After almost 20 years away from the stage, the band reunited in 2016 with Elastica’s Justin Welch on drums and released the EP Blind Spot. Lush has picked up where they left off, and shoegaze fans around the world can’t wait to witness the band’s signature sound in person.

    Pleasing the entire fandom

by LesBonTempsRouler on 9/23/16Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

While most of the crowd appeared to be familiar with the newer releases, Lush selected songs from all albums for their oldest and most devoted fans. Back to back Etherial and Nothing Natural made my night. The quality of sound at Music Hall of Williamsburg is better than some of the performing venues that I've visited in the past, so we were able to enjoy Lush sound lovely as they did when I was too young to go to concerts

Lush was as good as ever...great great set and the crowd was fantastic. It was 20 years since I saw them last and have been waiting for the day they come to NYC. Now, can wait for Stone Roses, Curve, etc.

    Tamaryn!

by thinkmaker on 9/19/16Royale Boston - Boston

Lush was great, totally on point, but truth is, we were really there to see Tamaryn and she did not disappoint. Dark, dreamy, moody, beautiful...perfection. Hope some comes back sometime as the headliner...

    Lush at Royale Boston

by ShoegazeFan on 9/18/16Royale Boston - Boston

Worth the wait of almost 25 years to see Lush. Royale is a very good venue conveniently located in Boston's theater district. Area in front of the stage is usually a dance floor, so the riser to get to and from it was a bit annoying. Otherwise, good sound quality and sight lines.

    Cool

by chibinazgul on 9/17/16Terminal 5 - New York

It was pretty dope! Venue was a little far from the train and the layout was a little odd but the rooftop was amazing. Band was great tho them and the crowd were a bit stiff? I'm not sure if it was the genre or the age group of the people in attendance but shake a leg guys! move those hips while you still can!
