Kentucky Wildcats Women’s Basketball History
The University of Kentucky first fielded a women’s basketball team in 1902, but the team officially became a varsity program in 1974. The Wildcats qualified for their first March Madness run in 1982 and reached the Elite Eight. That same year, the team secured their first conference tournament championship. Under head coach Matthew Mitchell, the Wildcats returned to the Elite Eight in 2010, 2012 and 2013 and secured their first regular season title in the Southeastern Conference. Coach Kyra Elzy, who joined the team in 2020, led Kentucky to their second SEC tournament championship in 2022.

Kentucky Wildcats Women’s Basketball at Memorial Coliseum
The Kentucky Wildcats women’s team competes at Memorial Coliseum, which opened in 1950 as the University of Kentucky’s primary athletic center. The men’s and women’s basketball teams shared the facility until the completion of Rupp Arena in 1976, and Memorial Coliseum now houses four of the school’s women’s teams: basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and STUNT. In 2022, Memorial Coliseum underwent extensive renovations, relocating the women’s basketball team temporarily to Rupp Arena and Transylvania University's Clive M. Beck Center.

UK got out to a decent lead and was ahead quite a bit at halftime, but East Tennessee State came back as the second half began and put a scare in the Lady Cats. Good win nevertheless as the Cats get ready to play at home against Duke.....
I love going to games in Memorial Coliseum. Not a bad seat in the house. The crowd was great and the atmosphere was amazing. It helped that the game was in the afternoon and I did not have to drive home in the dark. Also, my favorite team won the game.
The ball game was very good!!!! The famliy enjoyed it
The game was awesome, It was our first girls game and would love to go back.
Our uk girls bball team is amazing. Every game I've been to I have a great time.
At the beginning of the game when the KY Wildcats were down by 16 i thought the game was over. KY never gave up an had one of the best come backs I have seen in a while. Good luck on your game March 3rd against the lady vols. keep playing like you are.
The game was amazing!! The women's motto is 40 minutes of dread & it showed!! Great price, great seats, & a great time!! GO CATS!!

Always great fun to watch the girls. Some kind of great basketball.
Had a blast and got pics with my favorite cheerleader
The game was entertaining, the competition was not so good. The blind 16 yr old girl who sang the national anthem was the best part of the night. She was absolutely amazing!
Kentucky Women looked very, very good. Keep it going.
the girls played great.UK has a chance to win sec title and make it to final four
I loved it, was my first time getting to go watch the UK Women play and first time being at Memorial Coliseum. I want to go back again and watch them again. It's more fun being there live than watching it on TV. These were good seats and I really enjoyed getting to go.
Simply 5 STAR!!! A great family venue. Saw many families there enjoying the game just like we did!!
Great game and good seats. Would definitely recommend getting tickets for any event through ticketmaster.
Officials were horrible on both sides of the ball at times looked more like a football game. Poor passing neither team looked like a college team. I rated game as fair, venue is nice clean parking isn't that far away.
The game was a nail biter and I was glad to be there to see the Hoops come out on top with a buzzer beater by Mathes.
First womens basketball game we have attended. Had a great time. Would do it again. And we WON!!!
