HERMITUDE IN CONCERT:

Australian duo Hermitude always gets ticket buyers bouncing with instrumental hip hop bangers that fuse beat-heavy styles like trap, dubstep, and EDM. At their live shows the pair keeps the party in full swing, bouncing around the stage with their synths and drum machines hanging around their necks as they bust out catchy riffs and trigger thunderous drum samples. With El Gusto manning the beats and Luke Dubs on synths, the two display serious musical and technical chops as they manipulate and mash up their futuristic sounds in real time. Their live re-creation of anthems like "The Buzz" and "Searchlight" means that every show is unique, but the end result is always the same -- an unforgettable night of nonstop dancing that leaves ticket buyers wanting more.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Multi-instrumentalists Luke Dubber (Luke Dubs) and Angus Stuart (El Gusto) have been collaborating together since 1994, but Hermitude wasn't born until Stuart picked up a set of turntables in 2000. After releasing a vinyl-only EP in 2002 the pair made their album debut in 2003 with Alleys to Valleys, a critically acclaimed record that featured vocal contributions from Australian MCs including Ozi Batla, Urthboy, and TZU. The album's popularity earned Hermitude slots on tour with hip hop heavyweights like Dizzee Rascal and DJ Krush, and their amped-up performances on the road helped boost their growing fanbase. They followed up with the albums Tales to the Drift (2005) and Threads (2008), and in 2012 their fourth album HyperParadise cracked the Top 40 in Australia. After several years of extensive touring their rise continued in 2015 with the release of their fifth album Dark Night Sweet Light, a No. 1 smash that earned them seven ARIA Music Awards including Album of the Year and Best Live Act.

    THE BEST SHOW EVER

by Jenna on 9/23/19The Shelter - Detroit

It was so AMAZING and small concerts are the best because they are so personal and meaningful! Hermitude is so down to earth and humble and made me love them x1000 more after meeting them. They took the time to talk to everyone and take pictures and that meant so much to me! Can't wait to see them again ♡

    HermiYAS

by GINGERLUVIN on 3/7/16The Sinclair - Cambridge

To begin this review I would first off recommend the Sinclair to anybody who is looking for an intimate setting with the performer. The place, although small, provides the perfect vibes for any edm based concert. The fact that Hermitude was here is unbelievable and the price was even better! I had a great time and would love to repeat the night over and over again. They killed it when they played Searchlight... my absolute favorite!

You don't know who hermitude is?

    by Rachel9804 on 3/4/16The Sinclair - Cambridge

None of my friends knew who hermitude was. I told them a billion times "you'll recognize this song just wait". So I drag along several people. At first it wasn't too populated and they were sure I was just making it all up, then hermitude came out and suddenly it was so lit! My friends were shocked to recognize remixes of flume and zhu but definitely pleasantly surprised. We all jammed until the final song, chanted until they came back out on stage, and ended the night with perfect pizza from otto's down the street. Definitely recommend this band and this venue.
