Gladys Knight On Tour
The "Empress of Soul" is back. One of Motown's most iconic acts, Gladys Knight, returns to the big stage in 25 cities across North America for her 2022 tour. Although she's perhaps best known for her original rendition of the R&B classic "I Heard it Through the Grapevine (1967)," Knight has remained in the limelight as one of the all-time greats for the last 60 years. The seven-time Grammy award winner has won across three categories including Pop, R&B and Gospel, and has another 22 nominations spanning across five decades. Over her illustrious career, she has released 10 studio albums, with her debut album Miss Gladys Knight releasing in 1978, and her most recent work Where My Heart Belongs coming out in 2014. In 1996, her band Gladys Knight & the Pips was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Knight was also included on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers of All Time list. Off the stage, Knight has authored two books, including a biography titled Each Line of Pain and Glory: My Life Story, and made various appearances on television and the big screen. Her most recent appearances came when she played herself in Coming 2 America in 2021 and when she wore the bee costume on "The Masked Singer" in 2019.
Gladys Knight in Concert
Gladys Knight was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Merald Knight Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth on May 28, 1944. She has a sister (Brenda) and two brothers (Merald "Bubba" Jr. and David). As a child and into her teens, Knight sang in her local church choir where she refined her Motown chops. She had her first breakthrough into the spotlight at the age of 8 when she won Ted Mack's The Original Amateur Hour contest. Over the next few years, Knight and four of her family members (Bubba, Edward Patten, Langston George, and William Guest) formed a performing group to be called Gladys Knight & the Pips. After a successful run in the local Atlanta music scene, the group received a record deal with Brunswick Records in 1957 and began opening for legends in the music scene and influences on their style such as Sam Cooke. The group's first record to chart was in fact a cover of Johnny Otis' "Every Beat of My Heart," which made it into the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Knight left the group in 1962 after a string of successful releases such as "Letter Full of Tears" to start a family with her husband Jimmy Newman. However, she returned to the group two years later and went on to critical success over the course of the next five decades.

It was a great Night of a beautiful artist. A Night of a great Memories...
Amazing voice. Just a constructive critique However she should have just worn short heels, stay seated so she could have done longer than a one hour show. Would have loved to see her connect beyond just love you too to her audience .More than looking great, people want to hear from performers with words and songs
Gladys was absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!! Her beautiful voice was as strong as ever!!! The memories of my life while reminiscing that those were indeed the good old days when those songs first came out, made me feel good all over my body. I’m 70 not far behind Ms Gladys, she proved she’s a great performer that continues to deliver her best at all of her concerts, she shows “love” to her audience and we show her “love” right back!!!! Her back-up singers were fantastic and so was her band!!!! She’s one of the best of the best singers with a down to earth personality!!!! She is and always will be the talented beautiful person that she is!!!! Love you, MS GLADYS KNIGHT!!!! (4/30/2024)
Gladys Knight was great, as usual. And the band was on the one.
Gladys and the show were amazing. It was a bit shorter than we expected but it was still worth it!
It was like watching an angel sing. Amazing still❤️
The concert was scheduled from 8:00-9:30. It started at 8:15 and ended at 9:15! Gladys didn't sing the entire song, we got the SHORT VERSION of her songs!. I've been doing concerts for five decades and NEVER been to a ONE HOUR concert! $71 for an hour is a A RIP OFF! I gave two stars because she still has a beautiful voice!
What a voice for someone who is 79 years old !! Great performance of her hits with the Pips andher solo work. The band was stellar and the 3 backup singers were spot on. One complaint- the show barely lasted an hour, but this seems to be the case for older performers. Last week Three Dog Night's show was just 70 minutes.
Gladys gave us, again, the best she had! Gladys will be 80 soon and was showed us the substantial stamina it takes to tour and perform. Her voice at the beginning of the show was strong and welcoming, but as the show progressed, her background singers picked up the slack! They kept the energy high and supported a show that was at a high standard. When Gladys had to sit down, HER voice seemed to "disappear"into the group. The last 2 songs were sung by the background singers. No encore, nothing extra, but we all "understood our assignment"by enjoying and honoring our legendary singer, GLADYS KNIGHT!! Loved the show! I PLAN to return next year and pack the house again!
A divine singer who has amazing vocals. Sang from beginning to end. Absolutely loved performance. Attendees should have been notified of venue change prior to day of event
I had the pleasure of seeing Gladys last weekend at the Primm Star at the Desert Arena. I could not believe her vocal quality, and in all honesty, she sounded better than her records! I was brought to tears a few times by her delivery, her honesty, her passion and emotion, and the sheer beauty of her voice. This amazing timeless icon sounded better than ever, and you must catch her if she is in your area<3 Thank you Gladys🙌🏻
Brought back lots of memories. Would see he show anytime.
Excellent concert; great facilities - she took us down memory lane and it was remarkable
I'm a huge Gladys Knight fan and have been too many of her concerts. My mom turned 94 and seeing Gladys was on her birthday wish list. We could not have been more pleased with this performance. It was one of my favorites. She had a great band, the backup singers were fabulous, and her song list was the best. She is a consistently wonderful performer. She's personable and gives 100% of her talent. The venue is great, not a bad seat anywhere, and it is very cozy. The staff at the venue were organized and over the top helpful and friendly.
Gladys Knight never disappoints. She never hogs the spotlight. She shares the stage with her backup singers front & center. She showcases her band and is more than appreciative of all them. I hope to see more of her concerts ❤️
Band was tight, Gladys Knight should not have been out there. She needed help to and from the stage. She didn't keep the microphone up to her mouth so you could hear everything. She sang one line of the 2nd to the last song and must have forgotten the rest so the backup singers sang the rest. 65 minute show......disappointed.
Saw Gladys tonight and she was amazing. I was in the first row which made it much more special being 6 feet away from the empress 🩷 A few of her songs made me cry and just the part of being right next to her is something I will never forget I wish it lasted longer than 55 minutes but I would do it again in a heartbeat ! Gladys you are a beauty 🩷🩷🩷. Thank you for a fabulous evening and please take care of your beautiful self 🙏
Beautiful lovely, wonderful, amazing, pretty, talented, please perform, if I was your woman
Only one hour and 10 minutes, granted no breaks or talking, but still not long enough. Her singing is okay but not like it used to be. Would not recommend!
