GIRLPOOL IN CONCERT:
Guitarist Cleo Tucker and bassist Harmony Tividad -- the brains behind the endearing group Girlpool -- are sure to win over ticket buyers as they plunk out catchy melodies on their sing-song ditties in concert. The duo accomplishes a minimalistic, nursery rhyme-inspired pop-punk sound with only a guitar, bass, and their vocals. Their sweet-sounding songs are charged with intellectual ethos, and political and pro-feminist messages are delivered through their poetic yet cutting lyrics. The resulting sound feels like a total reinvention of familiar elements, existing halfway between Nirvana’s starkest moments and The Breeders’ gleeful abandon. On tour Girlpool brings their empowering sound to passionate anthems like “Before the World Was Big”, “Cherry Picking”, and “China Town”. These bright ladies have something to say, and their music will definitely get fans listening.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Since they formed in Los Angeles in 2013 as teenagers, Girlpool’s Cleo Tucker (guitar/vocals) and Harmony Tividad (bass/vocals) have quickly become into indie darlings. Soon after meeting, the duo found that they shared similar stylistic interests and began writing songs together. With help from their friend Tabor Allen, they recorded their self-titled debut EP in 2014 before releasing it through the website Bandcamp. The EP got fans buzzing online, and the UK label Witchita seized the opportunity to re-release it and fund a tour. The following year they recorded their debut full-length Before the World Was Big, another success that earned rave reviews from outlets like Pitchfork and Consequence of Sound. Tucker and Tividad continue to delight listeners as they explore the emotional depth of their charmingly simple approach in concert.

The club Music Hall of Williamsburg is awesome, 3 levels layed out like the Bowery Ballroom. Alex G. Played hi energy Lo fi 90's shoe gazer music. Girlpool sound like a summer day in 1967 San Francisco.
All the artists that performed were amazing and it was such a great line up that I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. If you didn't go you seriously missed out.
This was my visit the the Music Hall of Williamsburg. The whole show was great. There were three opening acts, and each one was worth seeing. Girlpool were talented, funny and engaging. I felt like I was watching a couple of good friends playing their living room for fun. Best night out in a long time.
