First time that I have seen Freakbass. OUTSTANDING SHOW. He has been around a while, not sure why there were not more people there, but they played like they were in Carnegie Hall or at the Apollo Theater. The ensemble was comprised of excellent musicians. The guitar player was in the Eddy Hazel Ernie Isley school of fuzzy funk when needed and smooth R&B when appropriate. Sky White the Keyboard player is a show all unto himself. Rico the MC/drummer keeps it moving and functions as the "conductor". Greg the NY sax player from the band Turkuaz was great. The ladies singing are superb! Ms. Comisar has the gnarl that's a cross between Wynnona and Aretha and Ms. Garret is a star on her own. The bass player is OK too! Seriously, Freakbass plays the hell out of the bass and leads the Bump Assembly in to the Funk stratosphere. If you went to this show and didn't have a smile on your face for the entire time they were on stage, something is wrong with you.
Love the atmosphere. The music and sound acoustics are very good.
Columbus’s own Prontoh started the night out and they were fantastic, keeping the crowd on their feet. Cincinnati’s own Freak Base really kept the crowd alive and on their feet for over two hours this was the best concert I’ve been to in a long time. Our group really had a blast. Both bands are a must see.
