DeGregori connects with his American fans

by AdelmoZ on 11/11/17Town Hall - New York

de Gregori is a huge influence and part of Italian culture for the last 50 years He came to perform his works in a simple but Direct Concert that leads the listener to the performance not the theatrics and smoke and mirrors other performers need to deliver. bare head and bare soul the only thing shining on the stage were his eyes through the black rimmed glasses. his trimmed moustache the only thing he could tell the audience that he had seen years of stages ,concerts and songwriting. I hadnt been to his show for at least 30 years on the other side with other young people who took his lyrics seriously even back then. I was proud to be part of the experience and myself as others , felt the connection with him Hopeful he'll feel the energy and vibe to return .

    Francesco DeGregori was fantastic!

by DJPep on 11/10/17Town Hall - New York

I went to Italy in 1977 and discovered Francesco DeGregori. You could hear the Bob Dylan influence, but there was so much more in the lyrics, melodies and sophistication as a song writer. I learned much of my Italian by translating his songs. After 23 year in Italy I returned to the States in 2000 and lost tract of his music for the most part. When I heard he would be in New York I didn't want to miss the chance. Every minute was heaven. He played all of his most popular songs and chatted with the audience (yes, mostly Italian) with his usual humility, intelligence and wit. I can't really share the joy with my American friends who don't know him, but I can tell you here that for his fans he is a legend.
