EMILY KING IN CONCERT:
A singular talent among singer-songwriters, Emily King fuses R&B, soul, and jazz to create a sound all her own. Rocking a fauxhawk bouffant and a watercolor-painted guitar, King always impresses with her inimitable style and vocal prowess. From the romantic down-tempo track "Every Part" to her '70s throwback tune "Distance", King proves her sound is diverse as ever, and fans can hear it on full display as she warms up the stage for Sara Bareilles on a number of tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in Manhattan, Emily King was inspired by her singing parents at an early age, often going on tour with them as they performed throughout the states. At 16 she left school in order to pursue music full-time and started playing local gigs around New York City, eventually attracting attention from label exec Clive Davis who signed her to Sony Music in 2004. Three years later she broke out with the smashing debut East Side Story, earning herself a Grammy nod for Best Contemporary R&B Album and praise from new fans including John Legend. Since then, she's toured alongside Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, and Emeli Sande, to name a few, and she'll continue to captivate audiences with her impressive vocal chops as she opens for Sara Bareilles this summer.

What a great performance. Thank you, Emily for playing all my faves across albums! I didn't expect to laugh in between singing my heart out but you brought the comedy too! On the venue front, I didn't realize food would be sold so I grabbed dinner beforehand. Would be helpful to have that clearly stated on the site or venue info.

It's hard to imagine, because her recorded music is flawless, but Emily's range sounds more magnificent and tone more perfect in person!!?!! Again, no disrespect at all... and I'm sure her hilarious and witty stage presence added to that impression. Would go to this show one thousand million times, the responsive crowd and the easy atmosphere made the music a more all-encompassing experience. So grateful :)
Emily has such beautiful energy & voice. Her authenticity is refreshing. I was swooning the entire time. I would definitely go to another show of hers!
Emily King is AMAZING!!!!!! Her performance was simply breathtaking. I enjoyed every second. The sound in this venue was also exceptional.

I have chronic fatigue and so this concert was past my bedtime, but I had seen Emily one another time, and I KNEW, I was going to get some healing. As soon as she hits the stage , it's as if the sun comes out!! Her voice is illuminating and her lyrics penetrate you. Plus she's such a sweet spirit, my goodness, you can feel her energy and intent. She is dynamic entertainer and her songs tell such wonderful stories, that we can relate to. She ultimately inspires!! She has an abounding soulful voice...and she interprets and never predictable...I got the healing I needed. Wish I could meet her. She is just fabulous. I would've paid money to see her again the very next day, that's how good she made me feel!!
She had us doing electric slides!! Emily King is nothing short of amazing. This is the 2nd time I've seen her at the 9:30 Club in 4 years time, and she was just as good the 2nd time.

Perfect venue for live music. Acoustics were superb. Artist was amazing and had great energy. The cherry on top was the Covid protocol, I felt safe and comfortable.
Beautiful space and great sound. Attended during Covid and they had a system in place that made me feel very safe. Everyone first had to show proof of vaccine and then they went to the next line to show ticket. Didn’t feel packed - even though the show was sold out. Would definitely come to another show.
Loved this concert. Amazing first concert post-covid chaos. Emily is a magnetic, dynamic performer and I could have stood listening to her for 3 more hours and never get tired. 100/10
I absolutely loved Emily's performance! I only recently discovered her music and was able to get a better sense of her musical style during the concert. She's great at engaging the audience, and I love how unapologetic she was in bringing her full personality to the stage! Gorgeous! I would give this five stars, except the venue was cold, and my seat location on the upper balcony front row was not ideal with various people running back and forth for bathroom, snack, and drink breaks during the show, which made it a bit difficult to see the stage at times. Overall, I enjoyed the performance and would recommend anyone who is even mildly interested in her music and/or the genre to see Emily King live!
Armed only with guitars, their incandescent vocals, and humor, Emily King and JMost delivered an unforgettable performance. The Somerville Theater was the perfect environment to enhance the intimacy of the experience.
What a great entertainer and singer Emily King is, she really knows how to engage with her audience and bring them into the experience of seeing her live. Such a fun, intimate, entertaining and memorizing presence she is, highly worth seeing.
I've been to 45+ plus concerts and Emily is by far my favorite and the best performer. Her crowd participation to raw vocals are impeccable from beginning to in. I've seen her three times and will continue to every time I get a chance.
Amazing acoustic set and orchestra center are the most ideal seats at Somerville theater.
My friend and I went to the last show of Emily King's tour in Somerville at the Somerville Theater and were thorough entertained by her musical presence, uplifting never-say-die attitude and great sense of humor. We were smiling from ear to ear from her duets to her personal stories in between, if you haven't experienced an Emily King acoustic show, do yourself a favor and put the next show in your area on your calendar. You won't be disappointed. I cannot wait to listen to her acoustic album. Thank You Emily.
I went to another city to see one of her shows in January. She was so good, I went again when she came to my city & did the meet & greet. Those usually seem like impersonal assembly lines- but Emily was incredible. She was so humble and personable. She actually had conversations with each of us before she took pictures. Her performance was nothing short of perfection. If you can catch her on stage, don't hesitate!!
