About Earthquake
Earthquake Live
Up front and straight to the point is how Earthquake describes his style of comedy. Audiences wouldn’t want it any other way from a performer who’s revered by comedy fans and is fellow comedians alike for his razor-sharp wit and frank, funny take on the world around him. That’s the brand he brings to the Strip for a much-anticipated series of performances at the Laugh Factory in the Tropicana Las Vegas.
Born Nathaniel Stroman, Earthquake earned his nickname from his mother growing up in the southeast of Washington, D.C. After an 11-year career in the Air Force, he decided to develop his comedy career, working as a stand-up in Atlanta’s comedy clubs before breaking through nationally as a performer on the Def Comedy Jam Tour in 1997.
His later TV appearances include Premium Blend on Comedy Central and Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO. He also starred as Uncle Mike on Everybody Hates Chris and appeared alongside Ice Cube in The Longshots.
He continues to tour extensively in the U.S. and Canada, with highly acclaimed performances at festivals such as The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas and Just for Laughs in Montreal.
Earthquake Background
A comedian, actor and radio host born and raised in Washington, D.C., Nathaniel Stroman has been better known as Earthquake ever since he was given the nickname by his mother. He joined the Air Force the day after graduating high school, eventually rising to the rank of sergeant. He ended his 11-year military career during the first Gulf War in 1991.
All those experiences helped Earthquake develop the honest and often hilarious style of stand-up that first earned him attention in the Atlanta area in the early 1990s. His national breakthrough arrived in 1997 when he joined Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam Tour. Appearances on such shows as BET’s ComicView led to further opportunities in film and TV, including spots on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, Jamie Foxx’s stand-up showcase Laffapalooza!, Weekends at the D.L. with D.L. Hughley and Real Time with Bill Maher. Earthquake also performed the recurring role of Uncle Mike on The CW’s Everybody Hates Chris, starred in Kevin Smith’s Clerks II and voiced the part of Root the Rooster in the 2006 animated hit Barnyard.
Released in 2005, Earthquake’s first DVD About Got Damm Time was hailed as a frank, fearless and hysterically funny demonstration of his stand-up abilities. It also helped cement his place as a favorite of fellow comedians like Whoopi Goldberg and John Mulaney.
Truly a treat! Earthquake and Donnell presented hilarious new material that kept the crowd engaged and laughing!
Let me start by saying I love Earthquake as a comedian. However, I was a little surprised that the other entertainers (Spencer, Jr, and Rawlings) stole the show. I laughed until I cried with them! I’m not sure if Quake was tired or not feeling well, but his energy was so low and he didn’t deliver the way I thought he would.
Earthquake and Donnell Rawlings were extremely funny and a great show. But the venue, Mapleton amphitheater, was trash.
Couldn't have had a better host........ Joe & Earthquake!!!!!!!! What A Show!!!!!!!!!!!
The show was great! The music before the show was on point. Joe from the DMV Zone was funny and set the stage. Earthquake came out & did his thing. My spouse and I had a great time!!!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the show. Love MGM's shows. This is the second show that I saw there. The first one was Ru Paul's Drag Race.
Earthquake was funny from the jump. He delivered 100%. Ticket prices were also lowest I've seen at MGM for anybody. Joe Claire was good too.
What a show! Earthquake did an amazing job, I am still laughing at his jokes days later.
Earthquake and Joe Clair were funny as hell!!! Joe got the show rolling and Quake brought it home. 2 Washingtonians performing for their hometown fans and giving 1 HELL of a show!!!
We Loved both the opening act Mr. Funnyman Joe Clare and the main event Earthquake!!! Laughed all my issues away…thank you both!!!
I LOVED the show!! Joe Clair did the opening and he was hilarious!! But that EARTHQUAKE OMG!! He was phenomenal!!! I love his comedy and him!!! He’s the bomb!
Joe Clair set the stage as the "FireStarter"for Earthquake to take the stage. From the beginning of Earthquake's hilarious lines to the ending, he was on track! He had me crackN up! Can't wait to see him again!
I laughed from the moment Earthquake walked on stage. The show was SOLD OUT & the parking lot proved it. I would see him again & again. #HandsDown
I attended emory university in the early 90s and was a fan of earthquake since his comedy club days in atlanta ga. However, this earthquake has honed in on his craft to the tune of in my opinion the absolute funniest relateable to real life situations turned into jokes comedian on the planet‼️ proud of you earthquake💛
Earthquake never fails. This show was phenomenal. Joe Claire- I didn’t think he was going to be funny at all. He made me out of a liar- he was great. Both together was one of the best comedy show. Great seats at the MGM.
Haven't laughed like that in ages!! Earthquake always delivers..wish we could see him more often in the DMV area. Always worth it..legendary!!
I laughed so hard ihad tears. Everybody laughed from beginning to end
The show was hilarious. He also spread some knowledge about wills and trust and how folk these days buy expensive an purse(pocky book) but when they transition, family member has to open a Go Fund Me page asking for donations for funeral expenses. My wife after retiring 38 yrs Federal govt sells life insurance etc, so when he touched on the subject we totally agreed. Just wish she could have passed out some business cards....lol... The show was awesome and I had the opportunity to take a picture with EQ while we were waiting(for a table) to dine at Ginger asian restaurant -before the show.
Earthquake was hilarious! He out on an awesome show with new materials. When it was over I wanted to rewind to see it again. He had me in stitches, I mean I could not stop laughing. He’s truly a humble celebrity and I’m glad he came home and showed out.
The show was great. Earthquake was very funny. Just being there at the MGM was great. Earthquake was great from start to finish.
