With DRB being disbanded for years, this was a concert that had to be witnessed. In my opinion, the tickets were more than reasonable.
If you EVER get the chance to see these guys, don't miss it. Chris Hillman, Herb Peterson and John Jorgenson put on one heck of a show. Just acoustic guitars, a mandolin and voices. No gadgets, no gimmicks. Just pure acoustic music. Great singing, songs and musicianship. Best I've seen. Glad I had a chance to see them on one of their rare FL appearances.
It was an honor to see these legends of the music industry. Chris Hillman was responsible for changing country music and and getting a new generation of young people to accept country music. Definitely one of the biggest influences in my musical journey.
i didn't know much about Desert Rose before their Birchmere performance, but their smooth playing and excellent singing has definitely put them on my "Must See Again" list. Some of the songs were new to me, but many others took me pleasantly and effortlessly back to the 70's.
Watching Chris Hillman and the members of this band play together was a great honor! It took me back a few years, but in the best of ways. This acoustical performance was outstanding in every way, even when poor Chris broke a string on his guitar he stayed on stage and sang with his wonderful voice. Tonight was a treat!
Neither of us had ever heard the Desert Rose Band live, but I was a big Byrds fan and expected that we'd like this band. I WAS RIGHT - we both loved them.
The band sounded great. I enjoyed every minute. The encore was a little short. People wanted more.
Amazing musicians. Could have listened all night. Definately go if it is around your town. Very intimate and engaging show.
Great show with he original line-u of the 80's country band, including: Chris Hillman (Byrds, Flying Burrito Bros.), Herb Peterson (legendary singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist) on acoustic guitars and occasional mandolin, Jaydee Maness on pedal steel (Vince Gill), John Jorgenson (Hellecasters, Elton John) on Twangy Tele. It was a night in guitar heaven with some heavenly vocal harmonies to boot. They burned through most of the Desert Rose Band CD - the only one of several titles available internationally which has been released in the USA. Treats of the night included Herb Peterson's Wait a Minute, famously recorded by the original Seldom Scene in the '70s, their hit One Step Forward, Two Steps Back, and some great solo exchanges between John and Jaydee on Hello Trouble. It was a rare treat to catch this great reunion show as it has been 18 years since the band played last and this was the only local appearance and one of only a handful East of the Mississippi. If they come back around, don't miss 'em.
