Formed in 2011, UK-based indie alt-pop group Autoheart features Jody Gadsden (vocals), Simon Neilson (piano, keys, saxophone) and Barney JC (guitar, bass, keys). Prior to forming Autoheart, Gadsden and Neilson began working under the name The Gadsdens and released their 2009 debut single “The Sailor Song.” The track gained traction on BBC Radio and the band received praise from MTV and The Guardian. In 2011, the duo announced they were evolving into Autoheart, a name they derived from a lyric in “The Sailor Song.” On July 9, 2013, Autoheart were featured as The Guardian’s New Band of the Day. On July 15, 2013, Autoheart released their debut album Punch. Their second album, the self-produced I Can Build a Fire, was released in 2016 featuring the lead single “Oxford Blood.” Their next album, Hellbent, was released in October 2021 featuring the lead single “I Know That He Loves Me.” In December 2023, Autoheart released Punch (10th Anniversary Edition) featuring remastered versions of the songs on Punch.
