Excellent show -- will see them every year from now on if I get the opportunity.
I've seen Australian Pink Floyd twice. Their sound is very good. Since we can't see the original Pink Floyd anymore, this IS the next best thing. I will see them whenever they are near. But can I say something about the opening act? They suck. Both times I went to see Australian Pink Floyd, the band "Led Zeppelin 2" opened. Now I think they just travel around with each other. LZ2 is as bad as APF is good. The most disappointing thing is their sound system. Or maybe they do it on purpose. Both times I saw LZ2, the vocals, bass, keyboard sound is way up and the lead guitar is barely discernible. From what I could hear, the "Jimmy Page" guitarist was doing a good job, but his volume was just too low. Very disappointing. Regarding vocals: Even though I think it must be pretty hard to get that Robert Plant voice, this "Plant" is down right annoying. He does too much of that stuttering and flipping about that is legitimately Plant; but this guy is over the top, so that it's distracting rather than a valid impersonation. If LZ2 is playing with APF next time they come to San Diego, I think I'll just plan on going late.
This was absolutely mind blowing..would see it 100 times
First time seeing this band. Did a pretty good job, pretty authentic sounding music. Most of the show was from Wish you Were Here, Dark Side & the Wall. Also played Meddle's One of these Days, and two post Water's songs (one I didn't recognize, other might have been Learning to Fly, forget...) I could do without the post-Waters stuff, just like Floyd with Barrett doesn't interest me. My biggest disappointment was that there was nothing from Animals! That was a real shame....
I have no point of reference, since I never was able to see the original Pink Floyd live, but I can't see how they could be much better than the Aussie version. The emotion and attention to detail in each song was very evident, as was the technical precision to replicate the studio like sound. The guitar interplay between the two leads was impressive to say the least. I really enjoyed the sound mix as the lady background singers fit perfectly and appropriately into every part. Mike on the sax gave me goosebumps. The Aussie radio station search prior to "Wish You Were Here" was so cool! I couldn't believe they played "Us and Them" live as it's such a dreamy song, but it was one of my favorites of the show. The light show was the icing on the cake. I'll be looking and waiting for the next chance I get to see this awesome tribute band!
If you're a fan of any Pink Floyd songs, you will be absolutely amazed at the exceptional sound quality and performance that Aussie Pink Floyd does at their shows. I have seen a lot of concerts; and a few takeoff bands. The quality with Aussie Pink Floyd is nonsurpassed. Treat yourself next time they're anywhere near you.
Australian Pink Floyd could easily be written off as a Pink Floyd wanna be. However the talent level and musicianship as well as their stage presence brings them to a different level. Every musician contributes at a highly professional level and this is especially true for both guitarists, the lead singer and the back up singers. Definitely worth seeing!!!
Great show they play the music very well. Love the venue
Great band almost like the original Loved it and can't wait until they come back.
As always The Australian Pink Floyd was great. this is the third time I have seen them. I will continue to see them every time they come. However ........ The opening Band ( Led Zeppelin 2 ) sucked.... vocals were terrible. everyone was booing. it is a shame we all had to sit thru their set while we waited for The Australian Pink Floyd.
Music from long ago from metal and rcho plus the favorites
Simply a big stage production and not as much musical value.
One of the BEST shows I have ever seen!! Everything was crystal clear and Spot On!! It was a show that would make Roger Waters and David Gilmour Jealous!!
Had such a great time...The music and sound was amazing and the venue couldn't be any more PERFECT!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the music, but sitting on the beach for 2 or more hours did me in!
I have seen the Australian Pink Floyd show twice now. The first time at the Palms in Las Vegas. Because of their amazing set, props, and light show Mandalay Bay Beach was not the best place to see them. I was so disappointed that the classic Pink Floyd magical feel was not there. Their sound lends itself to working better in a more intimate environment. At Mandalay Bay Beach, it felt and even sounded like a typical Pink Floyd cover band. Because I've seen them more than once I know how phenomenal their talent is and how you can get carried away in the show and almost feel for a moment you are really experiencing Pink Floyd. It's a shame that people did not get to experience that at this venue. This band's talent is astounding, they worked so hard and so long to be where they are and they deserve to have people see them at their best. The show usually has the big round screen, the teacher puppets and lasers. However there's no way I would go see them at a small stage outdoor venue again.
Australian Pink Floyd has mastered the original songs, sounding just like the albums we all love. Amazing acoustics, perfect vocal reproduction, visual perfection in light show. Literally could not tell the difference with original Pink Floyd except it was LIVE!!! Wanted concert to go on forever.
To begin the Led Zepplin 2 portion of the concert will make you cringe listening to a non talented poorly performing band that sounded terrible and lamely mimics Led Zeppelin. I have seen Aussie Pink Floyd several times and have marveled at the accuracy and attention to detail they have in their tribute to Pink Floyd. Truly in a good indoor venue the best tribute band in the world period. Last Friday night at Mandalay Bay Beach concert they were crammed into a stage that was way too small for the band forcing them to condense there settings. The light show was scrapped probably because of the proximity of the airport and the FAA regulations on use of lasers in the outdoors. The light show is a signature portion of the bands performance and to chop it down to a single laser effect on a wall was nothing short of pathetic. I felt sorry for the band they played well considering the venue but was so limited on what is normally a great show. Whomever booked the band at this venue should be flogged.
the stage was to small for APF. i have seen them many times and thier stage is part of the show. plus the sound was just ok. next time i will only go see them if they are indoors
Amazing! Best thing next to actually having David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters on stage again. SO glad I went. Fantastic recreation of Pink Floyd's music, visuals, props, and vibe!
